27 - Emotionally Numb

The phone hadn't even been hung up for long when Jake burst out of the house with the speed of a sprinter, panting as he ran to the Hyper Velocity Coaster.

  "Where is he?"

  "Where is he?"

"Mike, where's the guy you mentioned?"

Jake, not bothering to catch his breath, grabbed Mike and asked fiercely.

The moment Jake received Mike's call, he instantly realized that the person who had passed the Hyper Velocity Coaster challenge was very likely to be the Special Guest!

Mike was startled and stammered, "H...He's over there, boss!"

Liam watched in stunned silence, muttering to himself, "Never thought the boss was so deep. He usually seems so generous, but he's acting like someone's about to kill him because they got a ten thousand dollar challenge reward!"

Jake turned to look in the direction Mike was pointing.

Sure enough, he saw a young man who stood out from the crowd of tourists.

The young man had his hands in his pockets, his face expressionless. Other than his slightly messy and disheveled hair, he didn't look like he had just gotten off the Hyper Velocity Coaster.

Jake's eyes lit up as he sized up the young man, as if he were looking at a beautiful woman.

How could Jake not be excited!

This was a walking Fame Points gift pack, equivalent to four amusement facilities like the Hyper Velocity Coaster!

If he could get his hands on him, the development speed of Starlight Amusement Park would be best described by a famous saying - Wuhu take off!

"Hello," Jake said, walking over and extending a hand.

"Oh, hello," the young man nodded, his hands remaining in his pockets.

Jake's hand froze awkwardly in the air, and the atmosphere became tense.

Just then, a middle-aged man next to him struggled to get up, leaning against the wall, coughing violently as he managed to choke out a sentence.

"I'm so...sorry, our young master...hasn't been in a good mood lately!"

  Not in a good mood!

Jake quickly grasped the key point.

The system said that he had to fulfill the Special Guest's requirements or wishes to receive the Fame Points and special facility rewards.

If all goes well, the requirement of this Special Guest is to improve the mood.

"Oh, so you guys came to Starlight Amusement Park to have fun and find some amusement, right?" Jake asked.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"No," the middle-aged butler shook his head, "We're here to find something."

Jake looked at the middle-aged butler in confusion.

What could be worth looking for in his rundown amusement park?

Could it be that someone buried treasure in his amusement park, and before he died he shouted – Wanna get my treasure? It’s at the end of the Starlight Amusement Park, let's go, the wealth of the world is there!

Jake instantly imagined a drama more intense than anything.

The middle-aged butler carefully glanced at the young man, and seeing that the latter had no reaction, he whispered into Jake's ear what they were looking for.

"I'm helping the young master find his lost emotions."

Jake raised an eyebrow, giving a 'are you kidding me?' expression.

The middle-aged butler quickly explained, "It's like this, our young master suffered a huge emotional blow recently. He's like a lost soul, uninterested in everything. Nothing can cause even the slightest ripple in his emotions!"

"We went to see a psychiatrist."

"He said it's a rare mental illness. The young master couldn't handle the huge emotional shock, so his brain activated a self-protection program, disconnecting the internet cable that connects to the world of emotions!"

"Although this guarantees that the young master is not affected by negative emotions, he also lost his self-emotions and perception of the outside world, equivalent to a walking, talking vegetable."

"Is there no way to cure it?" Jake glanced at the young man.

Sure enough, the young man stood aside, listening to the two of them discussing his condition, but his face was expressionless, and his eyes showed no emotional fluctuation. It was as if he were listening to something completely unrelated to him.

"There is," the middle-aged butler paused, then continued, "That's why I brought the young master here. The doctor said that as long as one thing can stimulate the young master and cause emotional fluctuations, then everything will come back!"

"I thought that the young master often came to this amusement park when he was a child, so I thought I'd bring him here to see if it could evoke some memories and find his lost emotions."

The middle-aged butler sighed and said, "Now it seems useless."

"It is a bit tricky." Jake fell into deep thought, "Even the Hyper Velocity Coaster couldn't make his emotions fluctuate... wait."

Jake seemed to remember something. The corners of his mouth slightly raised.

With a smile, he said, "Are you interested in going to play a haunted house? You may feel some vibes after being frightened."

The middle-aged butler shook his head and said, "We already thought of this method. I took the young master to Green Vine Hospital and Vampire Castle, it was useless."

"In the end, he spent a lot of money to invite a master of psychology to set up a terrifying and bloody scene, but still the young master has no reaction!"

The young man said coldly, "Don't use such stupid methods again in the future, just wasting my time."

"Yes, young master," the middle-aged butler nodded.

"You can try the Death Shack, anyway you came here. Just try it. If you succeed by chance, you won’t waste your time?" Jake said with a smile.

In fact, Jake was not sure whether the Death Shack could work for people like the young man who had completely lost his emotions.

"Thank you for your kindness, boss," the middle-aged butler shook his head and said, "When the master of psychology we hired was setting up the scene, he used psychological hints and hypnosis to stimulate people's inner fears, but still the young master's emotions didn't produce a single point of fluctuation!"

"That's a coincidence. The principle of scaring people in our haunted house is also this, and it will definitely be more effective than the psychology masters you invited!" Jake said, "Just try it."

The middle-aged butler was about to refuse, but the young man spoke first.

"I don't know why, I suddenly want to see."

"I want to see where your confidence and self-assurance come from?"

The young man looked at Jake condescendingly.

The middle-aged butler was stunned and said, "Okay, then let's take a look."

"Great." Jake immediately took the two towards the Death Shack.

On the way, the middle-aged butler looked at the excited Jake and couldn't help but say, "I advise you not to be too happy too early."

"Don't worry, you'll know if my haunted house works in a moment!" Jake replied.

Soon, the three of them arrived in front of the Death Shack.
