"Alright, you ready to go in?" Jake said, pointing towards the entrance of the Death Shack, his eyes narrowing with a smile. "Friendly reminder, you can still back out now if you want."
"Showoff." The cynical youth scoffed, heading straight for the entrance without looking back.
The butler trotted along behind him.
Soon, they were standing in front of the Death Shack.
"Are you ready to face death?" The butler unconsciously read aloud the line of blood-red letters on the wooden door.
He didn't notice, but as he spoke those words, the youth beside him twitched his brow slightly, blinking rapidly.
"Let's just go in." The youth felt inexplicably restless, urging them forward with a tone that, if scrutinized, seemed somewhat softened.
"Yes, Master!" The butler positioned himself in front of the youth, taking the lead.
It wasn't that he was afraid the haunted house would scare the youth, but rather that he was worried about sudden props or mechanisms that could cause injury.
Just like in the Vampire Castle, without him, the youth's handsome face would inevitably have suffered some scratches.
The wooden door to the Death Shack felt like a gateway to another world. Stepping through, they were astonished to find themselves in a magnificent and expansive realm.
Countless towering trees stood in clusters, their spreading branches forming canopies that blocked out the sky and sun.
The butler's mouth hung open, unable to close for a long time.
"This... Are you sure this is a haunted house? Not some national park?"
Even the aloof youth couldn't help but take a few more glances at the primordial forest before him.
"But what's the point of it being beautiful? We didn't come here for sightseeing." Remembering the purpose of their visit, the butler deflated like a punctured balloon, his face listless, even his upright posture becoming somewhat hunched.
The youth stepped on pieces of bone, heading toward the Death Shack in the center of the forest.
The butler hastily followed.
As they walked and looked around, they soon noticed that the path beneath their feet was paved with human skeletons, and dozens of dried corpses hung in the forest.
The butler felt a shiver down his spine. His legs were weak, but he stubbornly persevered.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
If he hadn't been accompanying the youth, he probably would have turned around and ran a long time ago.
"Master, are you scared?" The butler looked at the youth with a hopeful expression.
The youth shook his head, his expression calm, and said, "I just think it's interesting."
"Sigh..." The butler sighed deeply. If even a haunted house like this couldn't stir any emotion within the Master, then was there anything in this world that could cure his condition?
The two of them quickly arrived at the Death Shack.
The youth gently opened the door and went straight to a chair, sitting down.
"Hurry up and get this over with. I'm a little tired, and I want to go back and rest."
"Alright." The butler sat in the empty seat next to the youth.
Neither of them had any intention of exploring the Death Shack; they simply sat there quietly, waiting for time to pass.
"The show's about to begin." Jake leaned back in his chair, staring intently at the monitor screens.
As soon as he spoke, the two people on the monitors began to undergo dramatic changes.
"Master, we just need to wait another 50 minutes, and then we can go home to rest." The butler glanced at his watch, saying casually.
The Death Shack was silent, and the butler's voice echoed within it.
"Huh?" The butler felt that something was wrong.
Usually, no matter what he said, whether the Master was interested or not, he would give some kind of response.
Why was there no reaction this time?
He quickly looked at the youth.
And then his pupils suddenly constricted, his heart pounded in his chest, and his heart leaped into his throat.
He saw the youth as if choked by an invisible hand, unable to breathe, his face flushed, his expression contorted, struggling frantically like a drowning man.
"This..."
"Master... You!"
The butler's face flushed with excitement, and tears welled up in his eyes.
It had been so long since he'd seen any expression other than aloof indifference on the Master's face!
"Lynn, why did you betray me!"
The youth suddenly roared, like a beast's deep growl.
His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and completely red.
The butler was shocked!
The reason the Master had become this way was because of this woman named Lynn.
Lynn was the Master's college sweetheart.
The Master was deeply devoted to her. He would fulfill any request she made, and if he couldn't, he would find a way.
But all that passionate love was ultimately rewarded with Lynn's betrayal!
Lynn took the Master's money and left with another man.
The Master was devastated by this event, becoming a muddlehead, passing his days in a drunken stupor.
Eventually, he woke up one day and became the person he was now, incapable of experiencing any emotional fluctuations!
He even forgot Lynn, a woman who had such great significance to him, due to self-preservation. When she was mentioned again, he was as indifferent as if she were a stranger.
"Lynn, don't leave me!"
"Tell me what I did wrong, I'll change, I'll change everything..."
"Just give me another chance, please, just one chance!"
The youth leaned over, his facial expressions constantly changing, sometimes sad, sometimes angry, but mostly a heartbreaking despair.
"Lynn, come back to me, or I'll kill myself!" The youth's expression suddenly turned sinister, and he shouted fiercely.
"Master, you can't die!" The butler was shocked.
But before he could do anything, his vision blurred, and he suddenly found himself on a windy rooftop.
Before he could figure out what was going on, he saw someone standing at the edge of the rooftop, slowly tilting!
"Master!" The butler instantly recognized the person, shouting anxiously, "Master, don't kill yourself!"
But as he rushed forward, the Master had already fallen off the rooftop, shrinking from large to small in his vision, eventually becoming the size of an ant.
Then, there was a loud crash!
Screams erupted from below.
The butler's face was pale, and his bloodless lips trembled.
"Ma... Master!"
"This isn't real!"
"Master, what's the point of me living without you?"
The butler closed his eyes slightly and jumped.
