We soon left the market section and continued to walk towards the end of the island. We walked through many different sections of the village. It had all sorts of functional buildings, very similar to the town. When we finally arrived, there was a gigantic crystal stairs leading to the main island. Loyd seemed hesitant on walking on these stairs.
“What’s wrong? Why aren’t we going?” I asked. The breeze that made us stay relaxed throughout our walk soon turned into a strong wind that striked us with sudden chills. The clear sunny sky turned dark gray as if it was forecasting a calamity. When I turned around, all the angels on the island all disappeared. It was like we entered another dimension.
“Something’s wrong. Someone interfered with the core mythology of
“Do you think it was because of the person tailing us?” Crimson asked.
“No, a single incarnation wouldn’t be able to cast this much of a power in the realm of gods. It’s someone else.” Loyd answered.
I first thought that this was happening because we didn’t meet the qualifications to enter
Concepts are one of the strongest sources of power in this world. For example, there are the 7 sins, time, the distinction of evil and good, and many more. The 7 deadly sins are concepts created by Pope Gregory the 1st. Which means that the source of power for the sins is
“The damn regressor is never helpful in any timeline.” Loyd whispered with anger. I first doubted what I just heard. A regressor? Timeline? What the hell is he talking about? There is no way he is talking about the regressor in mass production boring ass fantasy novels right? Like the type of character who was originally really weak, becomes really strong after going back to the past, acts like a hero and gets praised. I hate characters with cliché like that.
“Maybe fucking help instead of just watching if you were stalking us, Soksa!” Loyd screamed out loud into the void.
Soksa. It was definitely a name I heard before. There is a wooden house built like a dome located in the very center of the town that takes a lot of land. I’m pretty sure the owner of that house’s name is Soksa. But that player hasn’t played the server in a while. The log would say, [Player: Soksa. Last played: 2 years ago.] Soksa was one of the top ranked players in the server. But ever since, one of the first incidents in the server, never found again. That Soksa, the top ranked player that went missing for an unknown reason, is the regressor?
As Loyd’s voice ringed throughout the island, I heard fast tempoed footsteps running across the roof of one of the houses. The moonlight would reflect on the character as Soksa jumped into the air. When she landed, I was able to get a clear vision of what she looked like.
The first thing I noticed was the long dark trench coat that looked similar to Loyd’s. She arrogantly walked towards us like a model. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her because she was nothing like the Soksa I imagined. No, I don’t mean it as I fell in love. I was just shocked. She had a sharp face and an eye like a cat. She had long high ponytails with strands out. Her wavy dark hair looked like black diamonds. I guess she used good shampoos.
Although she was a regressor, I couldn’t really think of ways she could help us. If she is actually a regressor, theoretically, her guardian shouldn’t be able to support her with anything.
The more and powerful abilities the guardian inherits to their incarnation, the more pressure they receive. This weakens their true form which might lead to the ‘Eternal Night’ or their death. But occasionally, your guardian might be just fine if they are part of major kingdoms or groups since they will handle the pressure with the constellation. Due to this, Soksa probably didn’t receive any abilities from her guardian other than regression. I tried to think of all the constellations related with time that could be her guardian but the answer was a broad spectrum.
“
Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.
“Has this ever happened in one of your past regressions?” Loyd asked. Soksa remained silent. Instead of answering, she ran through the forceful wind. “This is the doing of the Sin of Sloth. You remember how to counter him right?” She asked Loyd. He nodded, then dashed towards Soksa. His eyes then started glowing in gold.
[Unique ability, “Memory Transmission” is being enabled.]
Even I, who has analyzed everything about the server and wrote a book about it, has never heard of that ability before. This world was a lot different than the one I used to play. I don’t understand how Loyd gained so much information about the sins and the kingdoms. Plus, a regressor is something that has never been mentioned in the server ever. My theory which I feared is enclosing closer and closer to the truth.
Loyd’s entire body started burning with blue fire. I first thought it was his aura being created due to the mass use of mana but it was actual flame. The fire then transferred to his sword. He prepared to shoot his aether towards the main island where the wind was coming from. As someone who had basic knowledge of science, I knew that when fire and wind meet, the fire will grow even bigger and damage everything around it so I tried to stop them. But the wind was just so strong. I couldn’t even move an inch towards them. I was just being pushed back.
Crimson who was struggling to stand still next to me also dashed towards Loyd and charged him with his mana. Although he didn’t know what was going on, it seemed he had faith in whatever Loyd was doing. As Loyd swung his sword, the aether of fire continued to fly across the empty hollow between the islands. Unlike what I predicted, the flame didn’t fly back towards us. Right before the aether crashed onto the main island, it hit a some sort of barrier. Then, it started melting like ice on a hot summer day. When all of the barrier was gone, the wind also dispelled.
“Wha… Wait… How did you even…” I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say. What I just witnessed just simply disobeyed the laws of physics. “The source of power for the sin of sloth is ice and wind.” Loyd explained. “That’s why I used the flame aether to burn down the ice barrier of the main island.
“Ok then what the hell is [Memory Transmission]? And who the hell is that over there? A regressor?” I pointed at Soksa who was sharpening her sword. When I looked over, she stared at me with a view of contempt.
Loyd started coughing heavily and fell on his knees. He was coughing blood. “I’ll… I’ll explain everything to you later. So let’s just get to the main island first.” His condition seemed really bad. His eye balls were shaking and his face turned pale. Me and Crimson helped him get up and cross the crystal stairs. And behind us, Soksa followed. The uncomfortable accompaniment has begun.

Eliot waited a few minutes in the overworld before traveling to
[Beta testers, “Maddie Osborne” and “Claire Chilton” have completed their tutorial. They are now gaining access to the ‘Purple Moon’ system.]
Eliot was intrigued rather than being surprised. Normally, a person can’t simply gain access to the ‘Purple Moon’ system unless a celestial being from the overworld interferes into the real world. Eliot swiftly and smoothly traveled between multiple dimensions. It was like falling asleep and when he was awake, he was back in the real world. He then walked to the band hall where he was expecting to meet Maddie and Claire.
When he entered, he witnessed Maddie and Claire standing in front of someone’s locker who weren’t theirs. It seemed they were looking for something. When they walked away, Eliot approached the same locker and found a book. It was one of the books that Luke wrote in the past. It had almost every information you needed in order to survive in the ‘Overworld’. This was one of the books that Eliot leaked to the entire band so that people could unlock the system. The first time it happened, no one cared and didn’t gain access at all. There was only 1 case ever since that ‘leak’ incident where someone gained access to the system. It was when Ethan created an illusion about the saxophone Christmas party. Right after the party, Ethan explained everything he knew to someone. And Eliot was there when it happened.
Eliot thought that if this book is the reason why those 2 beta testers gained access to the system, there must be something about it. With his ability as the Oni, he read through the entire book in less than a second. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything that was unusual. It was until he saw the back cover, where there was a QR code. When he scanned it, it gave him a PDF version of the book, just like how it did to Maddie. This wasn’t something that Eliot did. Other than him, there was only 1 person in all timeline who could do this.
“P$#l^d# o& c%a)%…” Eliot whispered. It was censored into a language that no one could understand. When he spoke, the world turned into complete darkness.
“Why did you call me?” A horrific voice rang in the area.
“You are the one who dreams, not the one who writes. Why did you interfere with the story of this world? I am pretty sure Peace ordered us to not do anything.” Eliot interrogated the unknown voice. The unknown voice wouldn’t say anything.
“If you don’t answer, I will fix everything you have done and erase their memo-...”
“It was the great author, the reader, and the protagonist’s order.” The unknown voice finally answered.
“Part of him is asleep. How did he answer?” Eliot asked. After the longest wait that only lasted for a short amount of time, the unknown voice answered.
“This is what he desires, what he has shown me.”
After that last sentence, the space started to fill up with colors again. The endless void was disappearing.
“Hey Eliot… What are you doing?” A voice came up behind Eliot and asked. When Eliot turned around, there was Maddie who hadn't left yet. “Oh I found this in Zoey’s locker so I was wondering why she had it. I also read this book before.” Eliot calmly answered. Maddie was first suspicious but she decided to put her guards down. “Oh that’s nice. You know, I really think this book is very intriguing and interesting. I really wish more people could read it.” There was a sign of conspiracy in her voice. “Yeah, that would be really nice.” Eliot didn’t really think deeply into what Maddie was talking about. It seemed he was just trying to get out of the situation. “Well… What if we spread this book to people? Then everyone can enjoy it!” She suggested.
Eliot thought for a second. The unknown voice said that the spread of the book, meaning more people gaining access to the system is what the “Great Author, Reader, and Protagonist” wants. He thought if more people knowing about the server is what he truly wants, he should fulfill his role.
“Sure. We should spread it to other people.”
