Premise & bond. A nameless death-row Convict escapes an art-deco panopticon into a canyon the size of a near-Grand Canyon, thick with old-growth and plausible megafauna. He encounters Exythilis, a starving, caste-scarred alien hunter stranded after a skiff crash. Neither shares language; they build a pidgin of gesture and ritual, and a covenant: “Tools, not men.”
