A Knight in the Darkness is the first book in a series set in a dark fantasy world. A female dark elf rescues a mind-damaged human male from a life of slavery underground and together they seek a way to escape their fates. Jalaena, destined to eventually become an acolyte of the predator goddess under the tutelage of the High Priestess, instead longs for the surface and a life free from deadly competition. Percival, a paladin of Light in training, is ripped away from his mentor and plunged into a world of darkness and pain. A chance happenstance brings the two of them together in a dark elven slave market where she purchases him and tries to repair the damage done to him. With him she can gain her freedom. With her he can heal his fractured mind and return to the life he’s meant to live. The damage to Percival is extreme, allowing little more than base functioning. Jalaena’s skills are mostly untested, requiring caution and a methodical approach. Unfortunately, time is not on their side. As Jalaena’s skill and powers grow, she risks drawing more attention from the High Priestess. And, unknown to them both, other dark powers seek Percival to return him to the hell that destroyed him.
