Giana lost her chance to ask what that dagger was as Agnis had hopped off the ship.
‘Doesn’t he get tired?’ is what she asked herself. The passengers on the ship had been quite noisy, but they were quiet now.
The spirit salmon had stopped attacking the ship and were all focused on Agnis. This caused the passengers to calm down, but the biggest reason was probably…
Giana followed the gazes of the passengers, and they were all fixated on Agnis’ fluffy tails and the surreal dagger he was holding. Her vixen senses went crazy on detecting deception, which made sense, but it was quite clear that dagger is ‘deception’ but knowing it is ‘deception’ didn’t tell her anything.
Everyone on the ship had forgotten their problems and had their eyes glued to the Silver Torrent.
“Hey… why isn’t he attacking?” A young man asked.
Nobody knew the answer to this question. The salmon seemed confused as any of their attacks got blocked by the iridescent daggers swarming around Agnis. And then suddenly, he disappeared with his swarm of daggers.
“The…the storm is gone!” An elderly fishermen exclaimed.
Everyone on the ship noticed it too. It was stormy until quite recently. When did the storm stop?
“It’s a miracle!” The assassin exclaimed. “I knew it! The nine-tailed spirit foxes are akin to gods!”
Giana tried to ignore the assassin and the uncomfortable feeling he gave her.
Salmon popped out of the water and mysteriously disappeared after a silver blur dropped on them.
The swarm of daggers appeared and a nine-tailed silhouette in the midst of it. The daggers flew in strange patterns, hitting their targets. The silhouette looked like Agnis, but not quite. Transparent, glass-like shards were gathering around him, as if he had reversed an illusion layer shattering on him.
“Hey, Giana, what is that? Giana?”
Giana snapped out of it and noticed the psychologist that had been nosy the whole trip.
“I…I don’t know. All I know that he currently is using illusion magic, but that’s it…”
“So, you can’t do this?”
Giana shook her head. “The men under our race are masters in illusions and terrible at charm and [Transform], the vixens are masters at [Transform] and charm magic but terrible at illusion magic.”
The psychologist raised an eyebrow. “That’s quite a big difference.”
“Well… we vixens love deception!”
The psychologist backed off. “I…I see. I…I will stay away so that I don’t get [Charmed]…. Guys take your distance from Giana! She’s quite dangerous in this state! Don’t forget that she’s a mythical beast too just like…” The psychologist looked over to the ocean. All they could see were daggers flying everywhere. Every salmon that got a dagger stuck into it floated up and the sky was slowly filling up with dead or half dead spirit salmon. “Just like that guy…”
The 10-meter class salmon started to move and attempt to protect their school. A [Tsunami] went out and the passengers clung to the ship, but the attack phased through them.
“What?!” the passengers exclaimed confused, happy that they didn’t get hit but wondering what happened.
The [Tsunami] ‘hit’ the target but shattered into countless shards, which turned into more iridescent daggers.
Hey assholes! I said eyes over here! Stop trying to hit the ship!
Blue lightning magic gathered on the iridescent daggers, which elongated and sought out more targets. The floating salmon had disappeared to make room for more.
Everyone’s hairs stood up when red lightning imbued arm sized daggers plunged into the water and swarmed the area.
“W… what is this? A dagger swarm? A dagger storm?” An elderly man said while trying to fix his haircut. “This electrical field is messing with my hair….”

The assassin leaned overboard. “Hey… isn’t that lightning acting a bit odd? It acts like it’s… a fluid…”
The ship shook and the passengers were free falling.
Giana accepted that she would get left behind, but this was not the case, she fell at the same rate as everyone else and her ‘deception’ detection went off like crazy.
The fall didn’t take too long, as they got swept up by a hurricane.
“I…is this Hurricane Path?” Giana uttered as she spotted countless other hurricanes nearby.
The experienced fishermen started to despair at the mention of ‘Hurricane path’. “We’re going to die!”
The ship and the salmon were subjected to the might of the ‘Hurricane Path’. Orange lightning and daggers were flying everywhere, and Agnis had no issues navigating though the hurricanes.
The turbulence eased up, and the ship was gently floating on the swirling wind. The lightning turned black and so did the surrounding.
Giana created a foxfire but the light didn’t travel far. “Uh oh”
The passengers got the scare of their life as an enormous shadow behemoth appeared. Black tendrils flew everywhere, but only targeted the salmon. An obnoxious purring and ticking sound started to torment the ears of the passengers, after which strange light emitting clouds teleported over and started swinging their scythes at the salmon.
All water had been removed from the scene, and the salmon were just as confused as the passengers on the ship were. Only the iridescent daggers could be seen in the dark, making the black lightning ‘invisible’ The lit-up area around the dog faced scythe swinging clouds revealed that the black lightning was still present.
The scene changed back to the ocean. And a fisherman pointed at another wave of salmon who were approaching.
Giana inspected the new wave with her Elgards eyes. “A 30-meter salmon… ooh I can’t wait till that one is digesting in my stomach!”
“What?! There is an even bigger one?!” The fishermen got caught by surprise, but they remained calm “But… not sure if that matters…”
Agnis’ tails were spinning and mana was visibly gathering around it and anyone could also feel it.
“Hey, he isn’t going to wipe us out too, right?”
“He would have just let the salmon take up that role if he wanted you dead.” Giana said, shaking her head disappointed at that thoughtless remark.
“Right…”
The tails reversed their spin and all the lightning in the area dropped to blue lightning.
“Oh… did he mess up?”
The tails kept spinning, and the lightning dropped further to yellow. This caused the new wave of fish to get extremely cocky and jumped out of the water at Agnis, surrounding him from all sides.
Right, guys if you have any electromagical devices on you… sorry about this…
A silver electric shockwave went out. Agnis’ cosmetic illusion lifted and any electromagical device got fried.
Nobody cared as they witnessed why Agnis was called the ‘Silver Torrent’. It was hard to tell if it was silver water or silver lightning acting as water.
“Whoa! It’s as if he’s made out of lightning!”
Torrents of silver lightning flew out, vaporizing anything in its path. The 30-meter class salmon attempted to protect its allies but was collecting electrical burns without making any progress.
Giana was ecstatic, but something was bothering her. She still sensed deception. Deception around Agnis, deception on the ship, even she was deception as was everyone on the ship. What exactly did Agnis do?
She tried to break illusion layers on just herself but failed, the failed attempt suggested that she was in reality.
“This is… captivating.” Giana struggled to get her vixen instincts under control, as she needed to keep the ship safe.
“Guys snap out of it and get away from her!” A voice yelled.
“But she’s so alluring!”
“Ugh, this is almost worse than a siren!”
The more experienced fishermen were keeping the younger men in check and pulling the younger fishermen and sailors away from Giana who was radiating pink energy.
The salmon king had enough of all the silver lightning. It had used [Deep Sea Scale] to massively boost its resistances, but it was relatively ineffective. It was convinced that once this spirit fox would die, the rest would be easy.
It didn’t know much about spirit foxes, but it did know that they couldn’t swim, so it used its ultimate skill [Abyssal Maelstrom] which would drag this fox down into the abyss and drown him.
