Chapter 25: Power

  Chapter 25: Power

Nitaan pondered his current abilities. He needed to utilize everything he had to its fullest potential and figure out how he could synchronize it with Kiita’s abilities.

‘Fade’ Nitaan could choose his own body, certain objects, a scene, and an area to dilute its appearance, making it less visible. Upon reaching the level of Learner, Fade’s effect was enhanced, but nothing major. It was merely a quantitative change, not the qualitative one.

The power remained limited to diluting outward appearance and physical phenomena.

Nitaan often used this power in combat to conceal his position during stealth attacks, to imbue daggers or arrows when fired, and in close combat to create opportunities by suddenly fading his body.

‘Link’ This was the power Nitaan used most frequently. He always maintained a linking state between himself and Kiita. He used to believe that he understood Kiita's thoughts through this power. Even though he had realized the truth, he had no intention of ending this near-constant linking state.

The benefits of this near-constant linking were so great that the constant consumption of spiritual energy was worth it.

When linked with Kiita, he could perceive information Kiita possessed more clearly. Nitaan can share some of his power with Kiita and communicate with him almost telepathically. As Kiita acts like a detector of everything around him, Nitaan's awareness surpasses others by far.

Only a far superior being, like Traveler, could approach Nitaan without him knowing.

Nitaan can also use this power as glue, linking enemies to objects they touch, but only for a maximum of three points at the same time. Beyond that, the link weakens to almost ineffective.

Nitaan can use this power to slightly change the trajectory of flying, thrown, or fired projectiles. He cannot yet achieve the homing effect. Currently, changing trajectory twice is his limit.

‘Gravity’ His third Word of Power is the most direct and effective attack Nitaan possesses against enemies.

Nitaan can reduce and increase gravity on his own body and that of his enemies, similar to reducing and increasing body weight. If he reduces his weight, his body moves faster and makes very little noise during movement.

If he increases his weight, his attacks become stronger. Ideal for close-quarters combat.

Nitaan practiced using this Word of Power so he could selectively add weight only during attacks. Otherwise, it would be like fighting with constant weights.

There were also a few uses in daily life, such as slightly increasing his own body weight for muscle training.

Adding weight to enemies was possible, but the cost-effective ratio is worse than adding it to himself, Kiita, or objects. The effect only lasts for a short while, and the amount of weight he can manipulate is significantly reduced.

Therefore, Nitaan often chose to apply it to objects already attached to the enemy, such as clothing or a tree that had fallen on Emerald-fur bear. Only if an opportunity arises will he apply it onto the enemy.

Nitaan could also directly create pressure on enemies by controlling gravity. He considered using this power for attacks, but his pressure wasn't strong enough.

Nitaan puzzled about this for a long time. Fundamentally, Word of Power should have literal abilities that come with its name. Adding pressure to attack enemies should be a very basic function of Gravity. By its nature, it should allow him to do this.

Nitaan speculated that it was due to his interpretation of gravity. For him, gravity might not be about suppressing enemy movement or about Earth's gravity that holds him to the ground.

The same was true regarding increasing and decreasing weight. Although he had mastered this power, he felt that the cost-effective ratio was still bad. His Gravity might be focused on other areas, not just weight.

However, he still chose to manipulate weight. Its ability and combat usefulness were worth the spiritual energy he had lost.

What he found truly easy to use was attraction and repulsion. He could easily pull objects weighing hundreds of kilograms toward him. In his fight against the Emerald-fur bear, while he couldn't directly pull it in, he could create immense suction to unbalance it.

The reason he didn't use direct suction was the sheer amount of energy required. If he wanted to create opportunity, Link was more than enough. It might work in some situations, but the main problem was that he could only attract enemies directly to him. He usually fought with speed, attacking while dodging. Directly attracting an enemy to his fragile body was extremely dangerous. A single mistake would have devastating consequences.

As for repulsion, His output is even better than attraction. Against enemies of similar level, this power was incredibly useful if he could get close enough. He could easily push Prai or Fah away dozens of meters.

The problem is that Nitaan's push is rather strange. It doesn't create a destructive impact, more like a forceful shove.

It might be useful against ordinary enemies, but against the Emerald-fur bear, which weighs over 2 tons and has fur thicker than steel, this power is practically no different than shoving it a few meters, causing no damage whatsoever.

Nitaan was only fighting to create an opportunity to use the Falling Vajra. Therefore, he chose not to use this power in combat.

Both of these powers are centered around Nitaan. He cannot shift the center. While it might seem useful in combat and the spiritual energy usage is manageable, it's unnecessary against the Emerald-fur bear.

Simply increasing or decreasing the weight is enough for now, but that doesn't mean Nitaan has abandoned attraction and repulsion. These two are the most potent abilities from Gravity. In the future, it will undoubtedly develop further. He is confident that one day, when he becomes stronger, this power will become a formidable weapon.

‘Kiita Wongjantra’ Nitaan's fourth Word of Power, is only at Newborn level. Therefore, its power is very small compared to the other three words, which are at the Learner level.

Besides Nitaan's usual actions of lending power and perceiving thought, he feels a slight increase in his strength and speed. He suspects this is due to Kiita's physical prowess being shared with him.

The only other significant development is the connection between the two of them, beneficial for battles requiring precise timing and strategy.

All of Nitaan's words are of the Improvise type. None of them can deliver a strong direct attack. The closest is the repulsive force from Gravity.

Nitaan's inventions compensate for this weakness.

Falling Vajra is a combination of attraction and repulsion, causing the spear to spin using Link to maintain balance and stability. Using lightning from external artifacts, he infused it through another Link to increase the spinning speed to an incredibly rapid frequency. Once it spun beyond its limit, he hurled it with a powerful force from repulsion and magnetism. Falling Vajra is the most ferocious attack Nitaan could currently execute.

Falling Vajra, while formidable, had obvious weaknesses. The accelerated spinning process took several seconds, making it difficult to use effectively in real combat. Another weakness was its ‘arrow’. Falling Vajra’s ‘arrow’ demanded extremely high quality. Ordinary weapons couldn't withstand the force and were shattered during the spinning phase. Therefore, that arrow had to be of a certain quality to withstand the immense power and high-speed spinning. Even Nitaan's finest spear was one-time use.

That’s why Nitaan’s main problem for using Falling Vajra is

  It was expensive!!

"Sigh, it would be great if I had body-enhancing power like Kiita," Nitaan muttered.

He didn't know much about Kiita's power yet. He will slowly learn about its detail in the future. But fundamentally, Kiita's power consists of

‘Domain’ is a Word of Power that Kiita uses to survey his surroundings.

‘Fortress’ is a Word of Power that enhances Kiita's body toughness.

‘Chase’ is a Word of Power that enhances Kiita's capabilities in every aspect to keep up with its desired target.

‘Nitaan Wongjantra’ is the word of Power that has always connected him to Kiita. He believes it possesses a similar power to ‘Kiita Wongjantra’, but at a higher level because it has already reached Learner level.

Currently, Nitaan cannot accurately predict Kiita's strength. When Kiita was just a Newborn, he was already capable of strengthening his body to withstand attacks from the Emerald-fur bear. Currently, its strength should be around 4-word devil beast.

Kiita will probably have to take on the role of the frontline attacker. I'll handle stealthy attacks with long-range weapons or surprise attacks. Actually, maybe we can switch around roles depending on the situation, but Kiita's body is stronger, better suited for close combat. Moreover, I can use Gravity to increase or decrease his weight.

As for me, when I get close, I can have Kiita share his physical abilities with me. Nitaan pondered a suitable fighting style for both of them.

Both Kiita and I can share our physical capabilities. When fighting together, our power would be greatly amplified. Right now, perhaps defeating the Emerald-fur bear wouldn't require any plan at all. Simply charging in would be more than enough. Nitaan laughed.

This wasn't a self-serving assessment. Having Kiita perform Engraving Ceremony made him become much stronger. And with Kiita's body becoming stronger, so too had Nitaan's body become stronger.

If only we could share Word of Po… Nitaan suddenly stopped as a strange and bizarre thought flashed through her mind.
