Chapter 8: Pluck its feathers

  Chapter 8: Pluck its feathers

The little furball had been awake for a long time, and Mo Yier not being by his side made him extremely anxious. Hearing the movement above his head, Xiao Rong lifted his head to look, quickly locking onto Mo Yier, which greatly improved his mood. However, what was that male thing riding under Mo Yier? Why did it occupy the position that should have belonged to him? Xiao Rong suddenly became unhappy again. (Everyone knows, right? A peacock spreading its tail is a male peacock, so of course Mo Yier's mount is also male. But don't misunderstand, this is absolutely just a mount and there's no possibility of it transforming into human form!)

The peacock landed steadily, and the animal was sensitive. It immediately sensed hostility from the little fluff ball and quickly hid behind Mo Yu'er. To know that the little fluff ball is an absolute carnivore, it doesn't care how beautiful your feathers are, it will eat you anyway.

Mo Yi'er didn't notice the discord between the two, she ran over and gave Xiao Rong a big hug, excitedly saying: "How is it? My mount, isn't it beautiful? I can hardly believe it myself, it's actually my mount! This place is getting more and more amazing!"

In the past, Xiao Rong's small appearance was treated as a pet by Mo Yi'er, but now this tall and handsome image undoubtedly makes Mo Yi'er treat him as a friend. Of course, happy things are to be shared with friends.

The little furball threatened the peacock by baring his teeth when Mo Yu'er wasn't paying attention, then pounced into Mo Yu'er's arms and acted cute to beg for pets. He was now bigger and more handsome, still as spoiled and adorable as before, but a bit strange. However, Mo Yu'er was particularly happy today and didn't push him away directly, so the little furball successfully got to eat some tofu several times.

When Mo Yi'er's stomach growled, she suddenly remembered that they had played all day and hadn't eaten anything at all, not even wild vegetables or mushrooms. Xiao Rongqiu was particularly considerate and warned the peacock to be careful before quickly running into the forest. In less than half an hour, he brought back a deer and a nest of bird eggs. Mo Yi'er loved eating bird eggs, and she remembered it clearly.

Perhaps he was tired, and before Mo Yi'er finished cooking dinner, he fell asleep again. If the old man hadn't told Mo Yi'er that he needed to sleep a lot before transforming into human form, Mo Yi'er would have thought he was sick.

Dinner was boiled venison, and it was a bit of a hassle that there was no salt here. Mo Yi'er felt like her mouth could produce birds from the blandness. However, she thought to herself that if they just held on for a little while longer, once they returned to the village, everything would be available again. She wondered how Chu Yan was doing now... As she stirred the venison in the stone pot, Mo Yi'er couldn't help but think about it.

The peacock has gone to find food in a nearby thicket, and Mo Yier is not worried that it will run away or anything. After all, she just rode on it casually, and if it wants to escape, there's no way to stop it. But this peacock seems to have taken a liking to Mo Yier and doesn't stray too far from her.

The deer meat was cooked, and Mo Yi'er nudged the little ball of fluff awake. The little ball of fluff quickly ate a few pieces of deer meat and fell back asleep, but before he did, he unfolded his wings to block the cool night breeze for Mo Yi'er.

At the third watch of the night, Mo Yier only heard a loud noise of peacocks flying and jumping, very lively. She opened her sleepy eyes and looked at a bald lion in front of her, chasing after her windy steed with all its might. When it was about to catch up, the peacock flapped its wings and flew away. The bald lion also wanted to fly, but its wing with only a few hairs couldn't lift its huge lion body, making it roar with anger. But what's even stranger is that despite such a big commotion, Xiao Rong didn't wake up at all. Didn't she really hear anything? Didn't she wake up?

Just then, Mo Yu'er didn't think much and hastily got up to run over and block the peacock. "Grandpa, what are you doing!" Hmm, unknowingly, she had already changed her address to call the bald lion, also known as old grandpa.

The bald lion was startled by Mo Yi'er's sudden appearance, then the bald lion's face showed an extremely awkward expression. He hid in the bushes for a moment and came out transformed into human form. He said to Mo Yi'er: "I'm going to pluck its fur."

"Why? Are you hungry? You can eat something else!"

"Not hungry, who cares about eating it? The meat doesn't even taste good." The old man said with an air of disdain, his nose slightly upturned. To describe him in 21st-century terms, he was arrogant and proud.

"Why did you pull out its feathers?" Mo Yi'er asked, stroking the frightened peacock hiding behind her.

"Hmm!" The old man just hummed coldly and didn't answer Mo Yier's question.

But isn't this answer obvious? He's bald, but peacocks have such beautiful feathers, how can he not be jealous?

Mo Yu'er couldn't be bothered with so much, and simply said: "Grandfather, I'm going to ride on this peacock in the future, so you'd better not pluck its feathers."

"What's the point of riding it? Don't I have my grandson?" The old man looked at Mo Yuer with a "you're an idiot" expression. Even the little ball of fluff, who was still pretending to sleep, secretly nodded in agreement.

Mo Yu's eyebrows twitched twice: "He can ride, but after that he will turn into a human shape, or find a peacock to ride together." She absolutely wouldn't say it was because the peacock's feathers were very beautiful and stylish. Otherwise, she would provoke the old man's pain and probably die without a whole body!

"Hmph!" The old man just coldly snorted, and also gave up on the idea of plucking the beautiful peacock's feathers in his heart. After all, he had been struggling for half a day, but hadn't caught the peacock anyway! Alas, Jin Shi was not used to being old, it was fine with animals that couldn't fly, but those that could fly were really troublesome, especially the huge peacocks.

"Grandpa, are you hungry? I'll heat up the venison for you to eat, okay?" Mo Yier also tried to comfort him a bit, as old people need to be coaxed and comforted just like little children.

"I'm not hungry, just cook me some mushroom soup tomorrow morning." The old man licked his lips, he wasn't hungry for himself, but rather wanted to drink the mushroom and wild vegetable soup.

"Good!" Mo Yier smiled in response, as long as he didn't mention the incident of him vomiting hair, things should return to normal.

The old man also fell asleep by the bonfire in the second half of the night.

Mo Yu'er went to pick mushrooms and wild vegetables early in the morning, and used yesterday's leftover venison to make a big pot of mushroom, wild vegetable, and venison soup. This big pot was almost all drunk by the old man, who despite his age, still had a good appetite!

The timid peacock also felt much safer and continued to forage for food in the nearby grass thicket. Seeds, small insects were its food, Mo Yi'er observed for a while, feeling that she didn't need to worry about it going hungry, so she put her mind at ease.
