Chapter 1 - Reborn

I couldn't see anything, hear anything, or smell anything. Well, I suppose that's what's supposed to happen when you're dead. Perhaps there was no afterlife after all, just endless drifting through a strange black sludge. Perhaps I will spend eternity drifting here. This is quite boring, isn't it? I tried to move my hand, yet I couldn't. After all, what hand was there to move? Yet the strange blackness did how odd? I feel tired. How can a dead man be tired? I attempted to move it again, and as the blackness cascaded, a ray of light illuminated my form.

How strange one wasn't supposed to be able to see themselves in the third person. Ahh, I see. that's why I couldn't recognise my form. I was a rock, a shard of pure blackness with something inside, a small white ember. Perhaps this is the afterlife? As I attempted to move the dirt around me, I realized where I was, where everything was in a radius around me. Next to me, the snow fell upon a layer of brittle gray stone as the harsh winds of winter ravage the cliffsides. It appears I rested upon a mighty mountain.

This form of perception is quite strange it's what I imagine a limited form of omnipresence would be. Watching the mountain, I saw something amiss there was something in the air which did not resemble snow at all it merely floated in the air. how strange? It glowed with a dull radiance. I tried to interact with it but when I attempted to do that it dived into my body or what else you could call this form?

It seems the white ember grew from that by a minuscule amount. did I eat that or consume it? I feel a bit more invigorated perhaps I should eat some more. With merely a thought all the particles within a 5-meter radius gravitated towards me, and I felt myself getting stronger, much stronger. And yet, instead of moving and leaving this place for the outside world. My body instead dug down out of pure instinct. What did I just do? I did not command myself to do that. Maybe this form does not like the fresh frigid air.

This situation does seem familiar turning into a gem-like object the ability to move my surroundings and the instinct to keep myself underground I do believe I have read something like this before what was it yes, a dungeon core. Though I can't really know for sure that I am one, I do check all the boxes. I begin to dig around me, uncovering a vast cave system.
