Secret Base

  The next morning, Vasilis woke everyone up and left half of them to guard the warehouse. The remaining fifty or so people all boarded the vehicles and set off towards that secret base under Aphrodite's guidance.

  The truck drove away from Yerevan, wandered around the outskirts for a few laps to confirm that it was not being followed, and then headed north towards the mountainous area.

  After about an hour, it slowly entered the wilderness area at the foot of the mountain. The road here began to become difficult to walk on, and it was probably a place where people rarely set foot, so they didn't even consider repairing the road.

  Half an hour later, a narrow slit of sky appeared in front of us.

  "Drive in from there!" Seeing the canyon appear, Aphrodite's face clearly showed a joyful expression.

  When she said that, the driver didn't hesitate and adjusted his direction to drive in. The whole car suddenly darkened.

  The narrow gorge was just wide enough for a truck to pass through, with the carriage only half a meter away from the sheer cliffs on both sides. After continuing in this way for a while, the bumpiness suddenly disappeared by more than half.

  "Highway?" Chen Chen curiously looked outside and exclaimed in surprise: "A highway has appeared here again."

  "We're very close!" Vasily couldn't hide his delight either: "Aphrodite wasn't wrong, there really is such a place."

  Not long after driving on this secret road, the truck came out of the canyon and suddenly opened up to a basin surrounded by mountains on all sides. At the bottom of the sheer cliff directly opposite the canyon, there was a huge alloy gate.

  The truck drove all the way to the front door and stopped. Everyone took their weapons and equipment down, leaving only the driver and Aphrodite on the truck.

  He looked around and nodded repeatedly: "It's indeed a good place, look, the surroundings are all steep cliffs, there is only one narrow road that can come in, except for this, there is no way to invade from other directions, even planes cannot launch air raids."

  "As long as we hold that one pass, this base is impregnable." Vasily nodded in agreement and walked to the metal door, running his hand over it: "And this is a blast-proof door. If I'm not mistaken, there must be blast-proof corridors inside too. This base was built into a mountain, it can withstand a nuclear attack."

  "Come on, let's all look for it together and think of a way to open the door!" Chen Chen walked over to one side and slowly felt along the alloy door.

  The others also hastened to follow suit.

  Everyone searched together, the efficiency was extremely high, and soon they found the gate valve. Reaching out to pull it, a series of metallic clanging sounds came from inside, and the alloy door emitted an ear-piercing metal friction sound as it slowly opened upwards, revealing the situation inside.

  Behind the door is a huge hangar, but after being abandoned, the things inside were basically emptied, leaving only a few old military trucks. From their old appearance, they should no longer be usable.

  Although it is almost empty, looking at such a large hangar, people can still imagine that some military aircraft must have been parked here in the past.

  Chen Chen quietly used the iris scanner to detect for a moment, confirmed that there was no danger, then opened the flashlight and walked in first: "Let's take a look inside!"

  Vasilis led a group of people in a hurry, holding weapons and following behind, while the truck also followed them into the hangar.

  It wasn't until I walked into the center of the hangar that I saw a blast door on the right side, which should be the entrance to the interior.

  "That's right!" Seeing the explosion-proof door, Chen Chen walked over without hesitation: "Typical explosion-proof design, this door is vertically distributed with the hangar gate, so it won't be affected by the blast wave."

  Vasily hastily summoned everyone to open the door.

  This door is still a mechanical door, as long as the door valve is found, it's easy to open it. After opening, under the illumination of the flashlight, a wide and dark passage appears behind the door, with unknown length and depth.

  The crowd opened four or five flashlights and illuminated the entire passageway, then walked in.

  This is a typical explosion-proof passage. After entering, it makes two consecutive right-angle turns and finally another metal door appears.

  Pushing open the door and walking in, the passageway suddenly transformed into a vast and expansive space. Shining a flashlight around, it was impossible to see the end.

  "There should be a generator here!" Seeing this scene, Chen Chen knew he had found the right place and couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. He opened his mouth and shouted loudly: "Everyone scatter around and search, open up the generator."

  Having received the reminder, everyone quickly dispersed to search carefully around, and finally found the generator in a separate room on the side, added some oil and started it up. The top suddenly lit up countless lights, illuminating the entire space with a snowy brightness, like daylight.

  At this time, everyone saw the entire base internally and couldn't help but let out a collective gasp of amazement.

  The entire interior space is in the shape of a hemisphere, with a radius of hundreds of meters, like an enormous bowl turned upside down on the mountain side. Various machines and equipment are placed in the center, which appears to be an experimental field. The surrounding area has separate rooms, divided into three layers.

  "What a great place!" Chen Chen exclaimed, looking around: "Let's go take a look at those rooms."

  As he spoke, he led a group of people to surround the first floor rooms for inspection and found that they were all separate laboratories. After searching around without any other discoveries, they went upstairs to the second floor.

  The second floor has an armory and a kitchen, as well as individual bedrooms that seem to be for the people living inside. After looking around, there was no special discovery, so I can only go up to the third floor to take a look.

  The third floor is completely different from the two floors below, except for a small part of the comfortable bedroom, there is also a huge control room, with many instruments inside, and in front of it is a huge display screen.

  "Those bedrooms should be for the officers." Chen Chen understood and walked to the display screen, stretching out his hand to gently touch it: "And this should be the central command center, let's turn on all the instruments and take a look."

  Having received the order, everyone dispersed and opened the instruments in each place.

  This opened up new discoveries again.

  "There's surveillance!" Vasilis looked at the row of screens in the corner and shouted to Chen Chen, "Can monitor the entire base, can also monitor the situation in the basin and canyon."

  "That's for alerting purposes." Chen Chen walked over to take a look and casually explained, "These are all ready-made, we can use them in the future too. Once there are intruders entering from the canyon, they will be discovered immediately."

  "The rest of the monitors and that large display screen, they should have been directly connected to the satellite system." Vasilis realized and said his own inference: "I saw the same equipment when I was in the Security Bureau before. This place should have been a very advanced base at first."

  "But now it should be impossible to connect to the satellite, we don't have the key." Chen Chen shook his head with some regret.
