Chapter 73: Return

  Chapter Seventy-Three Return

Not everyone living on Long Island is rich, just like many Chinese people's overseas relatives are not necessarily wealthy, this is a conceptual misunderstanding. Many people who work in Manhattan and live on Long Island have nothing to do with the financial circle, at most they can be considered small middle class in the United States. This crowded area has countless people rushing between the city and their homes every day, the geological structure formed by glacial deposits carries many Americans' lifelong dreams and comfort.

For Su Yifan, the city sky here is almost shattered, as too many high-rise buildings have torn apart his line of sight. As the car slows down, Su Yifan quickly withdraws his gaze.

  "Is it here?"

"Right over there." Su Xiao pointed to a luxurious mansion at the end of her line of sight, "Your classmate's family is not simple, oh."

Su Yifan smiled: "Qing Jie, you knew it all along, didn't you?"

Su Xiaoqing narrowed her eyes and nodded slightly: "I know a bit, but this has nothing to do with you. Do classmates have to consider each other's family background when making friends?"

Su Yifan said: "You should really tell Chen Xin this once, I don't know what his reaction will be."

The two hadn't exchanged many words before the car came to a steady stop at their destination.

Su Yifan looked up at the extremely wide surrounding wall and felt surprisingly calm.

After seeing Su Xiaoqing's company, Su Yifan felt that he had a kind of instinctive immunity when facing these existences such as money and power.

"Really don't need me to accompany you?" Su Xiaoqing asked again with a smile.

Su Yifan shook his head and got out of the car by himself.

"Little sister, take a rest, I'll be back soon."

Su Xiaqing nodded in approval, and now Su Yifan is increasingly showing a mature temperament that can face all problems, which is the most comforting for Su Xiaqing. Watching Su Yifan walk towards the large door not far away with a confident face, Su Xiaqing's smile was even more brilliant than before.

Yilan and Oula, sitting in the front row, didn't have the mood to care about this. After exchanging a glance, they both read the fervor from each other's gaze.

Su Xiaqing yawned and said softly to the two of them: "You don't have to be so passionate about it?"

Yi Lan replied seriously: "Miss Su, I'm not like you who doesn't care about these things at all."

Su Xiaoli lowered her head and closed her eyes: "I'll take a nap, Oola you follow Su Yifan from behind, I'm still worried about him."

Ou La didn't say a word, opened the car door and got out. On the contrary, Yi Lan looked at Su Xiaoqing with some surprise, then looked at Su Yifan's back as he walked away, his eyes filled with incomprehension.

As she walked up to the gate, Su Yifan first calmed herself down.

This was his first encounter with a real mansion.

The large gate in front of him was crafted with a level of precision that would be impossible to find domestically, although from afar it just looked like an iron railing. It wasn't until Su Yifan walked closer that he discovered each and every one of the vertical bars had intricate carvings with different styles, this kind of craftsmanship had already surpassed the realm of simply showing off wealth, many of the patterns on the carvings were recognizable to Su Yifan as art classics, and there was even text.

Yang Bingbing let herself return a ruby necklace, without saying anything else. Su Yifan didn't realize that things weren't as simple as he had imagined until he arrived at the destination, and the place where he came to deliver the goods was absolutely beyond his usual scope of contact.

Through the iron railing, Su Yifan could see the scenery in the courtyard. The wide lawn in the center of the courtyard was a driveway that went deep into at least hundreds of meters before seeing a corner of the villa. The weather in May was already very warm, and the whole yard showed a delightful greenery, with neat and clean lawns.

There was also a huge swimming pool, which looked like it could be used for competitive swimming. Su Yifan couldn't help but silently criticize the wealthy, and then thought of his own younger sister who was also considered wealthy, so he suppressed that sentiment of resentment from his poor youth.

Inside the iron gate, there were two security guards who looked alike, both blond-haired white men. Unlike many movie and TV depictions of security guards wearing black suits and sunglasses, these two were dressed casually, sitting on two long benches with their eyes closed.

Su Yifan walked up to the gate, and these two didn't react at all. Until Su Yifan stood at the door for a while, one of the men suddenly sprang up from the recliner as if his body was spring-loaded, standing straight on the lawn.

  "Hi, hello."

Su Yifan was taken aback for a moment before realizing that the other person had mistaken him for Japanese, and he quickly corrected in English: "No, I'm Chinese."

A tall and robust white man smiled slightly: "Oh, sorry. Sir from China, what can I do for you?"

Su Yifan felt that this white person seemed to not have the natural repulsion towards Chinese people that Westerners usually had, and instead appeared to be quite respectful. So he used his own stuttering English to say: "I'm here to deliver something to Mrs. Yang on someone's behalf."

The title of Mrs. Yang attracted the attention of two white people, and another man who was listening to music on a recliner also stood up, he was even taller, over 1.9 meters tall. Short blond hair with a square face, there is a large flame-shaped tattoo on the right side of his neck, extending from his shoulder to behind his ear.

"Do you have an appointment, sir?"

At this level of English, Su Yifan could still understand it, he shook his head and said: "No, I just came to deliver something."

The man who had just walked by earlier was no longer as relaxed in his expression, furrowing his brow: "Sir, without an appointment, we can't let you see Mrs. Yang."

Su Yifan also barely understood this sentence, and he could only say: "I must hand this thing to Mrs. Yang personally."

The tattooed bodyguard muttered something in English with his head down, Su Yifan didn't hear clearly, vaguely feeling it was something like "stubborn Chinese".

Looking at the expressions and attitudes of those two people, Su Yifan felt that it was useless to continue talking. Most importantly, his own language level could barely manage a few simple conversations with these two people, and further communication would be complicated and varied.

Thanks to his education in Taiwan, Su Yifan still learned British-style English at school, and his accent must have sounded very strange to Americans.

Two security guards seemed to find it troublesome to communicate with Su Yifan as well. One of them picked up the intercom and said a few words in a low voice, while the other turned to Su Yifan and said, "Please wait a moment."

Su Yifan nodded, standing straight at the door with one hand in his pocket clutching the box containing the gemstone necklace, waiting quietly.

This is also one of Su Yifan's strengths - he is a very patient person.

Before long, someone came over in an electric vehicle. The person was a young Chinese man wearing a very flashy white suit and had his hair styled neatly. The driver of the electric vehicle was also a robust white male with muscles bulging on his arms, and the biceps near his elbow were as thick as Zhang Yao's slender waist.

The car had barely come to a stop when the young man in white jumped out and strode quickly towards the gate.

As soon as he got close, Su Yifan immediately felt a strong aura of superiority on this young man's face.

A young man in a white suit stood at the door, looking at Su Yifan through the iron bars with an expression of extreme disdain.

"Is it you who wants to see Xiao Yi?"

The young man's Mandarin was a bit soft when he spoke, but Su Yifan heard that strong sense of superiority.

People living in such a place, having some sense of superiority is normal. Su Yifan didn't plan to get entangled in these issues and calmly said to the young man: "Someone asked me to deliver something to Mrs. Yang."

The young man turned his back, furrowed his brow, pulled out a handkerchief and dusted himself off in front of his chest, as if talking to Su Yifan made him feel unclean.

  "What is it?"

Facing this somewhat narcissistic young man, Su Yifan felt that the two Americans beside him were more lovely. Due to communication problems, he could only answer: "A necklace."

"What necklace?" The man in white suit seemed impatient, his tone still condescending.

Su Yifan felt like he had seen an elite version of Chen Xin again, he knew he didn't need to compete with this kind of person, so he took out the box containing the necklace from his pocket and opened it in front of the young man in a white suit.

The ruby necklace sparkled in the sunlight, reflecting off the young person's face.

Almost at the same time Su Yifan took out this necklace, the face of the man in white suit changed greatly.

"Where did you get this thing from?"

Facing this tone of inquiry, Su Yifan finally also replied in a bad temper: "I just want to see Mrs. Yang and return the things to her, then I'll leave."

The young man stared at the necklace, his voice turning cold: "Who gave you this necklace? Was it a girl?"

Su Yifan noticed that Oola had already walked to his side and was standing beside him, not saying a word. Those three white men saw Oola and couldn't help but roll their eyes, with the young man who came with them even letting out a soft whistle.

Ou La didn't even give these men a proper look, standing beside Su Yifan with her eyes cast down, but her face slightly raised.

Su Yifan didn't want to answer the young man in white suit's question, but his usual patience made him reply: "Yang Bingbing is my classmate."

The young man was taken aback, then burst out laughing loudly with a hint of anger: "Great, great fellow student! Was it she who asked you to deliver this thing? Was it she who sent you?"

Su Yifan didn't expect the young man's reaction to be so intense and subconsciously took a step back.

Neurotics are always a bit more terrifying than normal people, and Su Yifan had only seen such a nervous person on TV from childhood to adulthood.

"I never thought she would choose someone like him to give her the necklace." The young man entered a state of self-absorption, completely ignoring the people around him, as if he was talking to himself and also as if he was speaking to Su Yifan, "Is she trying to provoke me on purpose with this?"

Su Yifan turned his head and glanced at Oola: "Teacher Oola, shall we go back and calculate first?"

Ou La didn't speak, taking off his sunglasses and clipping them onto the chest of his puffed-up clothes.

The young man on the other side suddenly seemed to come back to his senses and fixed his gaze on Su Yifan.

"Kid, leave the necklace behind and you can go!"

Su Yifan looked at the young man who was talking to himself very seriously, shaking his head and saying: "No, I must hand it over to Mrs. Yang personally."

The man in white suit shouted: "You little brat, do you know who you are talking to?"

Su Yifan shook his head honestly: "I haven't seen you before, so I don't know."
