Chapter 17 – Report

At a bar located in Kamino, a district of Yokohama City, the dark fog portal that had led the League of Vilins to the USJ also appeared there. Shiragaki came out of that portal, restless and furious, followed by a composed Kurogiri.

Unlike Kurogiri, Shiragaki began destroying some of the bar's supplies. Various curses flew before he began to speak normally, so to speak.

?A defeat. It was a complete defeat!!!? he began, and then took one of the chairs and destroyed it with his quirk Decay ?The Nomu has been treated like a cleaning rag! Our subordinates were mercilessly massacred, and when the Symbol of Peace arrived, it was all over! You were wrong, sensei!!!?

A nearby computer screen lit up, and a male voice spoke in an unnaturally calm and calcuting tone.

?No, I wasn't wrong.? the voice began. ?But evidently I was too optimistic. Furthermore, you barely described the situation you got into, then immediately pushed back. Kurogiri, please expin better.?

The person composed of fog began drafting a more complete and detailed report, describing how everything was going according to pn at first, until the anomaly appeared and literally massacred all the Vilins present and defeated the Nomu several times with extreme ease.

?......Interesting.? the voice stated after hearing, ?A golden giant so fast and deadly that even you doubt you will emerge victorious??

?His analytical skills proved to be immediate.? Kurogiri stated ?Based on what the opponent himself said, with the first hit exchanged with the Nomu, he had already understood its strengths and weaknesses...... I suspect he has a tactical finesse and combat experience whose limits I have not yet been able to see.?

?I understand. Speaking of the Nomu, were you able to recover it??

?.........It wasn't possible.? Kurogiri said after much hesitation.

  ?Expin.?

?The giant had pnted the Nomu on the ground with his spear.? he began to expin. ?That spear also has a firearm built in, from what I saw. Explosive armour-piercing projectiles. If he had noticed me and shot me at the right time-?

?I don't need further expination.? the voice stated in the same calm tone. ?It's a shame, but there was nothing you could do.?

?What do we do now, sensei?!? Shiragaki asked, completely calmed down.

?Today's sortie wasn't completely in vain, but this time it's best if we take it easy.? began the man on the other side of the screen ?Gather a new group, this time focus more on quality and efficiency that doesn't do the numbers. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of moving as we want.?

  ?Okay, sensei.?

?And Shigaraki Tomura.? his sensei called him. ?Remember that you are a necessary symbol. Next time, you'll show the world how terrifying your existence can be!?

  *****

From the USJ came a line of Vilins and stretchers with corpses, covered in white sheets. When the police arrived, they began carrying out the arrest and... cleanup operations. Needless to say, the weak-stomach ones came out several times to vomit their souls, so bloody was the scene.

With his elongated helmet magnetically secured at his side, Izuku had positioned himself at the exit of the building. His eyes followed every suspicious movement, his muscles ready to spring. Although focused, he felt everything around him: the students' concern for Professor Aizawa, where they had been taken at the beginning of the assault, Principal Nezu's solicitude in strengthening security, and the reports given to Detective Tsukauchi, who appeared to be in command.

Oddly enough, they hadn't arrested him yet. Even though he saved an entire css of aspiring Heroes from a Vilin's raid, the w does not allow Heroes to use lethal force, only to incapacitate. Exceptions, surely, are there and will be very rare. However, the way he acted, he might look like a murderer in the eyes of the w. There is also the accusation of vigintism. Vigintes do the same things as professional Heroes, but with one fundamental difference: they are considered criminals only because they prefer to save people rather than think about profit.

Honestly, it makes him ugh, but he understands the logic behind it, albeit falcious and obsolete. At the beginning of their appearance, the regution of Quirks made sense because they were rare and unstable. Now, however, eight out of ten people worldwide own them. Regution serves more to facilitate commercialisation and ends up corrupting the hero society so prized in the early days of the Quirks. There are a few Heroes who truly follow their calling to do what is right.

It really makes him ugh out loud when he thinks about it. During his periods of rest and meditation, while still at the Imperial Pace, he came to such a conclusion, despite remembering so little.

?Midoriya-san?? he was called, attracting his attention, although not completely ?I am the Detective Tsukauchi of the Japanese police department. I have some questions to ask you if it's not a problem.?

The detective is a tall man with short bck hair and bck, slightly rectangur eyes. He wears a light-brown trench coat and a felt hat; underneath, a white-colred shirt, a dark-green tie, bck pants, brown dress shoes, and white gloves.

  ?Ask away.?

Ultimately, the questions were about how the situation was evolving from his perspective. As he always did, he answered questions as if reporting to the Captain-Commander, providing a summary of the situation's progress and going into detail only when requested.

?I'll write you a more detailed report in case it helps.?

?That would be wonderful, thank you. However, with your identity, I have to ask you another question.?

?I guessed so.? Izuku replied sympathetically ?First, though, I have two questions for you.?

?Sure, but I don't know if I can answer you.?

?First: have you contacted my mother??

?I called Mrs Midoriya.? Principal Nezu spoke as he approached ?I did so shortly after calling our esteemed w enforcement.?

?I understand. Thank you.? Izuku nodded, then turned again to the Detective ?Is the Nomu causing you trouble??

As if summoned, the Nomu emerged from the facility, bound with heavy chains and sturdy handcuffs, and led by an escort of eight policemen, two of whom were holding him at gunpoint.

?As you can see, he is not putting up any resistance. In fact, it really doesn't seem to react to any kind of stimulus.?

Izuku nodded. The sound of footsteps rushing closer activated his instincts. His gaze fell on the source: two middle-aged women were running towards him. It seemed like the first was running away from the second. The first had rge, circur eyes as green as her hair, only slightly darker. The hair was straight, shoulder-length, and tied in a ponytail. She wore a salmon-colored long-sleeved shirt and a light blue skirt. He seemed to use every energy to run towards him.

The other who followed her looked like the female version of her old friend Katsuki. Although she appeared to be no older than thirty, she was certainly older. She wears a white blouse under a vender cardigan and a short bck skirt.

When both were within a few meters of him, the first slowed down. The first woman's rge eyes fixed on his face, beginning to accumute tears. The second woman's sharp eyes, however, were initially half-closed from fatigue; then they widened in surprise, as did her mouth, as she pointed at him, trembling. At the tter's reaction, he felt like giggling, amused.

?I-Izuku?? asked the first, in disbelief ?My little Izuku??

Izuku turned completely toward her mother and slowly approached, then knelt before her. Little, I'm a geezer compared to you now, Mom. He thought amusedly, then gently took his hand.

?Yes, Mom.? he said, walking his mother's hand to his cheek. ?I'm back. Finally, I managed to get back.?

His mother looked at him. Tears piled up until the dam broke. She jumped around his neck, screaming his name. He didn't know how the reunion with his mother would go. He had done various simutions in his head. Now that it's happened, it's as if he didn't foresee this scenario. A surprise attack: for the first time in two millennia, his eyes moistened.

?I missed you. *sob* I missed you so much *sob*?
