For the pass few months have been working at a Tavern. It really noisy but that’s expected. The pay was decent overall i made something like 210 gold coins. It sounds like a lot, but it doesn’t last a month or two. But it will work as a good starting point.
I have too mention that I move back to my childhood town. This way it not to hard to kept up with information, and also not to get lost during my preparation.
By my fifth month, I realized i’m not ready for the adventure yet. Cause I am not strong in magic yet. But fortunately I have Ice magic. By itself its strong elemental magic type. I don’t have second magic type.
Midway through the 5th month I considered hiring a tutor to train my ice magic. Although finding a tutor willingly train a commoner is difficult. Most of them would like to train a son of nobility. But I did find a tutor who will teach me. But how does someone train their magic?
By the end of the 5th month. My tutor arrived and she already thought me some basic ice magic spells. Apparently its not that hard to learn magic and develop it. Although the magic system of this world is simple once you get into a intermediate and Advanced spells. It just becomes a complex mess. The advance magic system hasn’t been fully fleshed out by the scholars.
But I won’t need to learn anything of this advanced level magic stuff. As it only optional to learn these things. Although having one or two intermediate spell will be useful for emergencies.
Eventually it was the 6th month of working. The 6th month was the most uneventful month yet. I worked my job, learn magic spells, and practiced said spells. So much so I actually considered going this journey early.
But I remained patient, after all these months I can finally get going on the journey, or work something out.

————————————————————————————————————————————————
Kirven walked through the cobbled streets of the town. Reaching a weapons shop, pushing open the door. Inside from swords, bows, to daggers. A multitude of weapons were available for choosing.
“Welcome to my weapons shop, what are you looking for” said a gruff, middle age man. He had more defined muscles as he lay his hands on the counter.
“Good morning, I’m looking a casual blade, but one that can last a long while” responded Kirven, as he scanned the shop a sword.
“There while be some regular swords right there” replied the gruff man. Pointing to a set of black held by a rack.
Kirven follow his directions, looking at the blade from afar, he got up close looking at the swords. He grabbed one of the swords. Getting a feel of the handling. Then he did the same for the next sword, then the next, and next. He got a feel for every single one.
“I pay this sword, how much this sword cost” said Kirven, holding the blade by his hands.
“The blade would be about… 30 gold coins, with a free sheath or scabbard” answered the gruff man
“30 gold coins, thats a good price, get me a sheath” replied Kirven. He handed 30 gold coins to the man. He grabbed the sheath, and sheathed the sword.
Kirven walked out the door, he walked a random direction he had no intention to do anything else. He can meet up with the person he been meeting for a month now.
He walked through the town trying to remember where his tutor lived. He wandered aimlessly through the town. At some point he given up. He the scenery that surrounds the town. Only to notice his Tutor up in the small cliff.
It took a while for Kirven to climb up the cliff. Heaving exit town then climb the gradual slope of the cliff. Once he near the top. He see his tutor, she sat on the grass reading a book. Probably about magic spells or even intermediate spells.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Hello there, what are you reading,” aloud Kirven said, as he walked closer to the Tutor.
”I’m reading an book of Magic theory. The usual thing a Professional Mage would do” Replied the Tutor.
“Professional Mage? What could that even mean.” Responded Kirven, confused he never heard the term before.
“Well an Professional Mage is a person would went to magic academy to learn their magic skills and theory. Although I Don’t fit the definition, I’m an Self-taught mage, and learned theory in the academy.” Explained the Tutor.
“That kinda make sense, so do you have anymore lessons about magic for me” Added Kirven, hoping to learn some magic.
”I don’t have any lessons today but maybe tomorrow or day after that. I will have the lesson ready. But Strength alone doesn’t come from magic, Learn the Sword, an Polearm. Even the Bow is worth learning. They have real value in this world” Responded the Tutor.
Kirven stood there taking in the information his Tutor just Dumped on him.
“You know what I will train myself to use the Sword. I gotten but I haven’t got the chance to use it, or even train with it” Replied Kirven, a hint of Pride was heard in his voice.
“Don’t be to cocky, you can easily hurt yourself. But go ahead learn how to use the sword. It’s the best action to take now, and it will pay for itself greatly in the future” answered the Tutor.
As Kirven walked away, the Tutor smirked at herself. When Kirven was no longer visible she muttered to herself
“The Conversation went on very quickly. But maybe its a good thing it when on quickly.” Muttered the Tutor, she went back to reading her book of magic theory.
Kirven walked through town, pondering how to start training with the sword. He decided to go to the Local Library. he knew there will be something in the library that will help him. He the corner of the street and there it is the library not to big, or grand.
Pushing open the doors of the library the subtle scent of leather or paper can be smelt. Slowly inching to the bookshelves and looking at the books themselves. ‘Book carried the wisdom of millions of scholars’ once said his Tutor. She might be right but Kirven wasn’t sure. He searched through many of the books anything about swordsmanship.
There it is a few books about swordsmanship. Kirven eyed down the books thinking which to use. He grabbed a random book, and walked to a table and opened its contents. There it is the words that made up the book told about swordsmanship. It wasn’t an complicated read, and it was made to be utilized.
Kirven read through the book was slowly as he can. Taking in all the information the book possessed. When he was done reading, he decided to take the book with him. He left the library with the librarian not noticing. He scurry to a green field the outskirts of town. He forgotten to grab his sword, bit he didn’t mind.
Reading from the books drawings he mimicked the stances and positions. Figuring out the motion that connected the two positions. Kirven was passing the time doing swordsmanship without the sword, but he felt fatigue after only a few hours of practice.
This is where he realized he wasn’t in shape. “Man i’m tired and i have only worked out only an hour or two. This might be harder than i thought. Now i can’t even imagine doing this with an actual sword. The exhaustion will be to much” sigh Kirven, he recovered his breath, and continued with his practice.
“No, I will do this with an actual sword not now. This is too much work for now.” Argued Kirven to himself, he looked at the sun. It was nearing sunset. Might as well eat something before sleep
He walked back town, taking the view from the green field he was on. The mountains were large even though they were far. The light greys and snow that covered the top of the mountains. These mountains must have provided the cold breeze the flow through the field.
He reached town and made it to the tavern. Its usual business for the Tavern to be noisy and busy. He approached the counter to order something
“Good Afternoon, may I have the usual” Responded Kirven
“The usual Smoked Ribs with Honey. With the usual Apple cider. Right” replied the Receptionist, writing down his order.
“Yes, yes. You already know what i want” answered Kirven. He pulled out 8 sliver coins, and handed it to the Receptionist. Kirven memorized the price of his usual order.
he looked around to find an empty seat. Found one at the middle row, at the edge of the building. From there looked the crowd. Adventurers, groups of friends, to mysterious people who sat alone. But he took in the environment he was already used to this environment.
His food would arrive, with his drink ready to eat right through. As he did continue to look around the Tavern. There wasn’t much to do, just to eat and look around. He had no one to talk to, and wasn’t going to join a random group to talk.
So he ate away at his food, ignoring his surroundings. This town till feels unwelcoming namely cause he is stranger in this town. It’s like no one remembers him, well he was a child during his time in this town. He hadn’t made any friends during his childhood hears. Maybe its his a chance to start anew here.
While taking a sip of his Apple Cider, he noticed mercenaries and some city guards dine here. He didn’t know that but there always something surprising to see, hear, or feel.
But tomorrow he will Learn the sword, learn to imbue ice magic with his forming swordsmanship. He had a person in mind to teach him these tricks.
