Chapter 26

Not long before landing, Art says to Lutin

"The fissures are getting worse, they're everywhere!", Lutin responds "Yeah… You're right. It's a miracle that the continents didn't get swallowed by it".

They Land near the edge of the continent, the harpyon says "We are here!" They get out of the ship and Lutin comments "Man, there's crazy wind up here!" The harpyon "Of course! We are all the way up, it would be strange if there wasn't" Art asks him "Couldn't you get us near a village or something?" He answers "Unfortunately, it is against the law. Only criminals would do that as a way to steal and escape with a harpyon. Do you want to get thrown behind bars?" Art shakes his head and thanks the harpyon. As the two of them are walking away, the harpyon stops them

"I wanted to ask something!" They turn around and he continues "I know this is very rude of me, but i want to know. Are you a human or a wolfkin?" Art asks why does it matter, "It's just… We sky people are not very… Uhh… Agreeing" Art stares and replies "If you can't tell the difference, then we're good" the harpyon is left confused. He then tells them about some villages nearby "There are quite the amount of villages, but there is also two gigantic cities. You should be able to see them from far away" He then waves "Have a safe journey".

Art and Lutin head out into the nearby forest.

As they walk through the strange forest, its creature's glare at them. A confused Lutin says "Do all the creatures in this continent have wings?", Art replies "Why ask?". Lutin continues "Ya know? Ever since we got here, I noticed that nearly every creature got some way of flying". Art says "You know what? Yeah, the second we got to the SKY CONTINENT, we've seen nothing but CREATURES WHO CAN FLY", Lutin says

"Okay, okay, I get it. Damn"

They continue walking through the forest and days go by. As they sit, camping under the clear night sky. Lutin who's deep in sleep, and Art who is carving some statues. He looks in front of him and sees a mother deer with her child. She curls her child near her and cuddles it tightly to protect from the cold wind. He stares at them and begins to remember his mother.

We see a young Art who scraped his knee. Alva gets close and starts healing him with magic. "Sweetie, you need to be more careful", Art panics and says in a nervous tone

"I'm… Sorry", Alva says in a soft and calm voice "Don't be sorry. Be better. You're a growing boy, there'll be a time where I can't hold you anymore" she picks grass from his hair, puts her hand on his cheek and says "Promise me, when time comes,

you'll be strong", he says "Stronger then dad?", she nods while smiling "Stronger then dad". He smiles and proceeds to hug her.

We go back to Art who zoned out, he looks at his hands and sees that he cut himself while carving. He puts his gauntlets on and decides to wait until morning to get back on the road.

Morning arrives, and they head out. They eventually reach a village and they begin resupplying on important items. The shopkeeper who's an old man says to Art "Boy! Mind me askin'?" Art doesn't reply "You a human or a demi?" Art stares at him

"Why do you care?". "Ya know what, forget it I asked". After they have finished shopping, they leave the village and head out to one of the faraway cities. Days fly by and they finally reach one of the sky cities [Aerinreeah city].

They go into the city that is filled to the brim from all sorts of demi-humans and non humans. They then see a strange large bird, that the non harpyons are using to fly around. Lutin fascinated, goes up to a demi-human and asks about the bird. The demi answers "Oh! These are it's a Medelaan". Lutin asks Art if they can get one, and Art ignores him and decides to head to a tavern to eat.

Lutin keeps annoying him and asking why doesn't he want one. He answers "It's a waste of money. And i prefer to travel on foot". After eating they decide to rest in the city for a while.

A week goes by, and as they are about to leave. The entire city is panicking. The sky is dark and gloomy. Lutin says

"What is going on?!". Art grabs a random harpyon that is panicking "What's happening here?". The demi is unable to hear him. He yells "ANSWER ME!!". The harpyon answers "Th-The [Great Sky Serpent] is awakening!!". They ask about it and he tells to go to a village for answers.

They hastily leave the city and go to a faraway village. They reach it and see harpyons who are decorating their homes. Art asks one of them "Excuse me. Do you know what's happening with the sky?". "It's the Great Serpent, it’s awakening. But if you wish to know more" he points at a house that is slightly larger then the rest. They knock on the door and an old harpyon answers. He opens the door "How may i help you?"

Lutin asks "Are ya the chief?".

He nods and tells them to come in for tea. After they sit down, Art asks the same question. The chief tells them "It looks like you already know who is causing this. To spare you the details, it's a dragon that was sealed away for centuries. Every 50 years, the seal weakens, and we simply reapply a new one". Art asks "And who's supposed to that?". He answers "My daughter, Minala. She is currently heading to the sky temple with some guards". A knocking is heard and the chief answers. He says in a shocked voice "What are you doing here?! And where is she?!". One of the guards says "She forced us to go back, saying "it's my job, and i don't need protection"". The chief whispers to himself "Why do you need to be so stubborn". The chief looks at Art with desperate eyes. Art gets up and says "Not helping unless it helps me". He offers him a letter, he then says "The next city [Haoarae], requires a letter approved by a village chief if you're an outsider. You help, i help". Art and Lutin look at each other. Art answers "Fine. Where is she?". The chief asks "Do you have a map?". Art says "Shit! I forgot to grab one". Lutin says "Ya deserve it for not sleepin'". The chief says it's not a problem and hands him one with the sky continent on it. He points them towards the sky temple, and they head off.
