22 - G-Force Nightmare

“Attention, thrill-seekers! Prepare for launch. Your rollercoaster ride is about to begin, with an estimated duration of 30 seconds.”

Jake announced, tapping the start button on the control panel.

  "Clunk!"

The rollercoaster, packed with excited riders, slowly pulled away from the boarding platform.

"Who knew a casual weekend could turn into a payday?"

"I wonder if this reward is a one-time deal or if we can keep going. If it's the latter, I'm camping out on this rollercoaster all day!"

  "+1!"

The atmosphere on the rollercoaster was electric, everyone beaming with anticipation, blissfully unaware of the impending storm.

Liam secured his live-streaming equipment to the safety bar in front of him, pointing it at his face, and launched into a lively monologue, gesticulating wildly.

"Alright, folks, so far this rollercoaster is a snooze-fest. No thrill, no challenge, nothing! And probably not for you guys either!"

"If you're nearby and have nothing better to do, grab a duffel bag and come on down to collect some cash! They're paying ten grand a ride. Where else are you gonna find a deal like that?!"

Liam's words struck a chord with some viewers, and a flurry of comments appeared on the screen.

"Too bad I don't live in Riverdale. Otherwise, I'd skip work and be there in a heartbeat!"

"Copy that! Duffel bag's packed, ETA soon!"

"Me too, me too! Anyone wanna team up?"

"Good lookin' out, streamer bro! Let's get this bread!"

Meanwhile, the rollercoaster reached the peak of the first hill. The power unit beneath the cars roared to life, an engine scream that instantly filled everyone's ears!

  "Haha, here we go!"

  "Showtime!"

Liam and Mike had been assisting at the Death Shack, but as soon as they heard the first group of passengers had boarded the Hyper Velocity Coaster, they abandoned their duties to Ethan and raced over to watch the spectacle.

They arrived breathless, but wasted no time, their eyes glued to the riders.

"Don't just stand there, grab some trash bags and hand them out to anyone who needs them!" Jake instructed.

Mike chuckled. "Boss, I think you should open a snack stand next to the Hyper Velocity Coaster."

  Jake's eyes lit up.

That was actually a brilliant idea.

Nearly everyone who got off the ride would throw up their breakfast. Empty stomachs meant more business!

"That's a solid suggestion. I might just throw a little extra in your next paycheck!" Jake said approvingly.

As they spoke, the rollercoaster began its descent.

In the blink of an eye, the speed went from a snail's pace to a high-speed train!

To Jake and his friends, the rollercoaster became a blur on the tracks, accompanied by a thunderous roar!

The sheer volume of the noise grabbed the attention of the crowd waiting in line at the Death Shack. They stared, dumbfounded, at the speeding machine!

"Is that a rollercoaster or a freaking plane?"

A series of golden question marks seemed to pop up above everyone's heads!

Of course, the experience was even more intense for those on board!

The moment the coaster launched, everyone's expressions froze, replaced by a mix of terror and disbelief!

The wind howled like a banshee, instantly turning every rider, male or female, short hair or long, into a slicked-back caricature, forehead gleaming in the sunlight!

Mouths gaped open, as if to release the fear and panic in a primal scream.

But no one could make a sound.

The gale-force winds rushed directly into their throats!

  Talk about eating wind!

Liam was faring somewhat better, thanks to his pilot training, and managed to maintain some semblance of composure.

  But only relatively!

Faced with a top speed of 310 mph, no one could remain indifferent!

Liam's face cycled through a series of rapid transformations.

First, calm and collected. Then, a hint of unease.

Next, he held his breath, his face turning red, veins bulging on his forehead!

A technique pilots used to combat G-force!

But resorting to this tactic meant that the pilot was nearing their breaking point!

The camera, mounted to the bar in front of Liam, recorded his every facial contortion.

  The live stream exploded!

"Whoa, what's happening to his face?!"

"WTF? I heard a boom, and then the streamer went haywire!"

"First time here. You guys called him 'Rollercoaster Killer,' but he looks worse than me on the kiddie coaster."

Limited by the frame of the camera, the viewers could not accurately assess the situation, sensing only that the ride was fast. The true speed, however, remained a mystery.

Liam forgot all about his online audience and focused entirely on withstanding the insane speed of the coaster!

  He was floored.

  This rollercoaster!

  How could it be!

How could it be so fast!

Based on his training at the flight academy, he guessed that the coaster was approaching half the speed of sound.

And along with that impossible speed came a sudden and brutal G-force!

G-force is the force experienced by an object accelerating rapidly, expressed in units of G.

"During my tests at the flight academy, I was able to endure 9G at my peak.

"Right now, I am almost at my limit... which means that the G-force of this coaster is 9G or more than 9G!"

Liam's experience led him to a shocking conclusion!

  To put that into perspective:

Most people have ridden a high-speed train, feeling a jolt as the train accelerated.

The acceleration of a high-speed train produces just 0.2~0.3G!

This coaster had more than 30 times that force!

Liam felt his condition worsening. His head was swelling, his vision was blurring, and darkness descended over his eyes!

"I... I'm blacking out!" Liam panicked.
