Matthew wakes up in his new quarters in the Knight's Fortress, eyes crusted over as the sun gleams into them.
The room had gone relatively unused by Warren so there wasn't really anything to clear out before he could move in.
He held respect for Warren but didn't feel any emotions of grief at the news of his death, all he cared about was the new position that just opened.
Now that he's a General, he'd have nearly unrivaled authority in Elarium, but with that authority would come great responsibility.
Since he's a General, he's going to be needed a lot more, which is why the Fortress quarters exist.
Matthew had read somewhere that, when the Knights were first started by the first king, it was just a group of strong people who would protect the kingdom.
From there, they realized they needed more people so they started recruiting, but the recruits couldn't keep up with the first Knights, so they created the ranking system.
But then some huge tragedy happened with a Commander, fairly recently actually, which led to the quarters being implemented.
After the tangent in his thoughts, Matthew forgot what he was thinking about and simply got up out of bed and made his way into the dining hall.
In the dining hall, he sees Jonah, sipping tea.
Across from him sits Ferrul, face down in a huge plate of sausage and eggs.
The snoring shook the entire table.
Matthew had never liked Ferrul much, too much brute force.

He held great respect for Jonah, though he's a little bit cheerful.
Thorne wasn't there and he was glad.
Matthew was no stand up individual, but Thorne was another level.
Matthew sits down at the table, trying to wake Ferrul up before being stopped by Jonah.
"Don't even try."
"I tried waking him up with me today, but it turned out as usual."
Matthew leaves, too annoyed by the snoring.
He goes into the arsenal and sees the array of amazing weapons.
They're all divided into sections, one for each high ranking Knight.
In Jonah's section sits dozens of weapons of varying sizes, lengths, and shapes, it's a wonder he's such a genius at combat.
In Ferrul's section sits a single gargantuan axe, fitting of such a brute.
Thorne's almost seems like a space between Jonah and Ferrul's, only one dagger, mostly unused, sits there.
An amazing blade, long, winding, and flexible, sits in Lucius' spot.
Cassius' section sits entirely empty, he's only just arrived back after six whole years undercover.
He hadn't seen much of Cassius, though he held great respect for how committed he could be to his job.
And lastly, in Jermaine's section, sits two amazing, beautiful weapons.
One greathammer, which has a name above it.
Dawnbreaker
The name fits such an amazing weapon.
And next to it sits a greatsword, also with a name.
Lion's Claw
The blade had been passed down through generations of the Lionsheart family, though for some reason, Jermaine hadn't used it once in at least twenty years.
The hammer had also gone unused for a few years, though not nearly as long.
Matthew walks over to his section, where a simple sword with a pyramid shaped blade sits.
He leaves the quarters to head to Lucius' office for his missions for the day.
On the way, he makes his way right behind two of the newest rookies, James and Laura.
He'd heard rumors from some of the Generals, mainly Jonah and Warren, that the two were in a relationship.
He found it hard to imagine.
Why would Laura, the daughter of one of the greatest families in the history of the kingdom, pair up with some no-named boy from Center with a knack for stealing abilities?
Matthew never understood the appeal of romance.
He enjoys aspects of relationships, but doesn't understand why someone would want to stay in one with a single person for longer than maybe a year.
He has his won problems, why worry about someone else's?
He received his missions after James and Laura left, and continued on with his day.
