The Final Pain

Nacht reached home and knocked on the door. As always, his mom opened it.

  He greeted her quietly.

  “Hi, Mom… how are you?”

Her expression didn’t change. She didn’t even respond to his greeting. Instead, before letting him inside, she said flatly:

“I heard you got your salary today. Hand it over. All of it.”

Nacht froze for a moment. Half his money had already been spent on the drinks he bought earlier. Still, he tried to stay calm and slowly pulled the remaining cash from his pocket, placing it into her hand.

She counted it—then her eyes burned with anger.

“HEYY… I told you to give me all of it. What is this? Only 2000? What am I supposed to do with this?!”

She threw the money back at his face.

Nacht lowered his head and whispered softly:

“Umm… Mom, actually… I bought something on the way. I was really hungry…”

  Her rage exploded.

She grabbed his hair, yanked him forward, and slapped him hard. Without letting go, she dragged him across the hallway by his hair and threw him into his dark, broken room.

  A cracked bed.

  A shattered window.

And a voice full of venom.

“You brought misfortune into our lives! Ever since you came here, everything went downhill. I should’ve let you die that day—at least I wouldn’t regret anything now. From today onward, you’ll stay in this room until you rot. Filthy blood.”

She slammed the door. Even while leaving, she kept shouting:

“That’s why your real parents abandoned you. To die.”

Every word stabbed straight into Nacht’s heart.

  He believed her.

He believed he truly was bad luck.

That his real parents left him because he was worthless.

He buried his face into his knees and cried.

There was no one to wipe his tears.

  No one to offer water.

No one to sit beside him.

  Only the darkness.

  And himself.

Blood slowly trickled from his scalp where she’d pulled his hair. The skin there was torn and raw.

His whole body ached. He couldn’t even tell which part hurt the most anymore.

Holding his wounds, wiping his tears, Nacht lay down on the broken bed and whispered a prayer—not for help… but for death.

“Why is it always me…? I have no friend, no one to listen, everyone blames me for everything. God… don’t I have a heart? Am I not human? Or is this world not meant for me at all…?”

His voice trembled. His sobs blocked his words.

“I want to die… I don’t want to live like this. Why did You send me to this world? Look at what they’ve done to me… I can barely see… I can barely hear…”

He had been hit on the head so many times that his vision and hearing were slowly failing.

  Internal bleeding.

  Tissue damage.

  Silent suffering.

Crying until his tears dried, bleeding until the pain numbed, Nacht slowly drifted into sleep—as if someone had cast a spell over him.

Meanwhile, the same boys who harassed Shuna earlier were sneaking toward Nacht’s house, planning revenge.

“Bro, we’re going to his house… what if something goes wrong? His parents might see us.”

“Relax. I checked. His dad comes home late, and his mom’s at a party. No one’s inside. Perfect timing!”

“Hehe, all this for one girl? Still, it’ll be fun beating him up.”

“Not for the girl. He made fools out of us yesterday. Come on, boys—let’s go.”

Their leader brought four boys with him. Each carried a hockey stick or a baseball bat.

They wanted to beat Nacht so badly he’d never joke with them again.

They jumped into the backyard. One of them brought a small ladder to climb through the broken window.

“Hey Niko, you stay outside. If anyone comes, whistle. Got it?”

  Niko nodded.

  “Got it, boss.”

He took position outside while the other three, including the leader, climbed through Nacht’s broken window—straight into the room where he was sleeping.

When Niko stepped away, a sudden gust of wind knocked the ladder down.

  Inside, the leader smirked.

“So, you’re the guy who acted smart yesterday? Looks like Rauf didn’t beat you enough. Let me teach you a real lesson.”

  He stepped closer.

“My name is Amagi. Remember it. And don’t even think about going near Shuna again—unless you want worse. Boys… start. Don’t stop until he begs.”

The two boys began beating Nacht.

  Again.

  And again.

  Crack! Thud! Bam! Thokk!

  Nacht didn’t scream.

  He didn’t even move.

  One boy hesitated.

“Bro… we’re hitting him really hard. But he isn’t waking up. And—this blanket is turning red. Is he… is he dead?”

  Amagi felt a chill.

  He walked forward slowly.

  Heart racing.

  Hands trembling.

  He grabbed the blanket—

  And yanked it off.

  What they saw froze them.

The right side of Nacht’s body…

  was sliced open.

As if something inhuman had torn through him long before they arrived.

  There was blood everywhere.

  On the floor.

  On his clothes.

  On Amagi’s hands.

  They screamed.

Terrified, they tried to escape through the window—only to see the ladder had fallen.

  And Niko was gone.

  Their heartbeat spiked.

  Palms turned cold.

  Sweat dripped down their necks.

  Just then… the door opened.

  Nacht’s adoptive dad stepped in.

  He saw the boys—

and saw Nacht’s cut, lifeless body.

  Before anything else could happen—

  Nacht’s eyes opened.

He found himself lying on soft grass, surrounded by endless greenery, glowing flowers, and singing birds.

  He looked at his hands.

  At the sky.

  At the light.

  “Where… where am I?

  What is this place…?”
