I finished the letter and placed it in my storage ring. It seemed very convenient that Arigulius left me so much stuff, but I was angry anyway. I realized that I had died and was now reborn. Angry because I was grieving for my loss, angry because I was alone on a new world, angry because I was abandoned. I knew better. I knew this wasn’t Arigulius’ fault, but my emotional brain wasn’t listening to my logical brain. Trying to put aside my anger, I looked over the table and the items and decided that now was a good a time as any to work on Identification.
Ring Spell Storage
Level: Epic

Usage: To store, simple think Store Spell and then cast spell. To recall think Cast Stored Spell “spell name”. Use “Spell List” to review stored spells and available storage.

I pushed my mana into the ring instinctively and bonded the ring immediately. I then put it on my right-hand ring finger. It immediately shrank to fit perfectly. Next was the knife.
Dagger of Return
Level: Rare
Description: Magic dagger that will return to owner’s hand. User must bond with dagger prior to using.
+ 10% damage against wildlife and monsters. + 25 mana to owner.
Usage: Owner gives dagger a name when bonding, and thinks dagger “name”. Cost 5 mana per usage.
Wow, just wow. I can only think of Thor and his hammer. With this, I should always have a weapon handy. I have had training in knives in my former life and knew they were excellent close quarter weapons. My first thought for a name was Boomerang, but only I would understand the reference. A more descriptive name came to mind and when I bonded the knife, I named it Mj?lnir. Okay, not exactly original, but better than boomerang. Next up, the sword.
Balmung
Level: Unique
Description: Unique sword with various capabilities that unlock for bonded user dependent upon their level.
1. EverSharp sword
2. + 1 Strength
3. + 5 Damage
4. ????, ????, ????
Usage: Use as normal sword by hitting your target with it. Sword grows with user and additional attributes may become available.
Thankful that at least I don’t have to name the sword. Still, I am not quite sure what to think about the sword. The name is from Earth mythology, but I had only read a brief synopsis of it along with other famous fictional swords. It seems that it could be very powerful, later. But now, well, it certainly will be useful, if not all that powerful. Okay, onto the leather coat.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Leather Battle Armor
Level: Rare
Description: Acts as full coverage armor, head, body, limbs. Hands and feet are not covered. The armor provides extreme reduction to stabbing, cutting, biting, scratching, and slicing damage (75%). Blunt force damage is minimally reduced (20%).
Usage: Wear like a coat. Must be buttoned to be fully active, otherwise protection is only at 50%.
Nice. As I hold the armor up, it’s not too heavy, and looks like a normal full length black leather coat with white trim and large brass buttons. I have to give Arigulius credit for knowing my style. I like it a lot. Spear time…
Lightning Spear
Level: Rare
Description: Acts as a normal spear, but also can shoot lightning at target 3 times a day, equivalent to level 5 lightning spell.
Usage: Point at target and think Discharge. The closer the target the better chance of hitting. Shoots out to 25 feet.
This can be used as a ranged attack, but I don’t know if I can hit anything at that range, so it will take practice. Maybe I should think about staying a few days in the cave. That way, I can get used to both the new body and the new skills. Finally, the necklace.
Choker of Breathing
Level: Rare
Description: Allows the user to breathe as if they were breathing pure air. No poison gas, water, or other contaminates can enter the wearers body via breathing. All other poison resistance +50%. May have a detrimental effect on wearers ability to detect obnoxious odors.
Usage: Wear the choker.
I put on the choker. Wonder if I can breathe underwater? It is surprisingly heavy, but the white metal looks good and it fits snuggly.
So, the scabbard turned out to be magic also, but it only hides the information about the sword when someone uses Identification, returning a standard non-magic sword message. Never heard about a magic scabbard before, but hey … magic world.
There was a magic coin purse that held an assortment of coins, cooper, bronze, silver, gold and what appeared to be platinum. The coins were different sizes, with platinum being the largest.
There were a number of potions that helped with mana, health and stamina regeneration, but nothing else stood out.
At this point, I have identified everything, including my level common clothing, the bedding, and anything else I saw. I noticed there was a blinking symbol in my system vision, so I activated it, and a list of notifications came up.

That was a nice benefit to this morning’s activities. With this task done, I decided to head out of the cave and take a look around.
