Chapter 15 – The Crimson Convergence
The basement trembled.
Concrete dust sifted from the ceiling as over a hundred infected pressed forward, their shrieks layering into a single suffocating roar.
Tokita moved first.
He didn’t charge blindly.
He stepped forward with controlled breath — left foot sliding, right shoulder angled, knife reversed in his grip.
A zombie lunged.
Tokita pivoted.
His body bent low — almost parallel to the ground — letting the claws skim air. In one fluid motion, his blade drove upward through the chin and out the crown. He ripped it free sideways.
Bone split.
The corpse collapsed before it even understood death.
Behind him—
“Left!” Natsuki shouted.
Three sprinting infected broke formation, flanking.
Tokita didn’t turn.
He shifted his weight backward and slammed his elbow into the first skull. The crack echoed. His heel snapped out, caving in another’s kneecap. As the third reached—
A streak of blue lightning cut past him.
Natsuki blurred forward.
Electricity wrapped around his forearms like living serpents. He slid low, dagger scraping sparks across concrete before driving it through an infected’s temple. Without pulling the blade free, he twisted his wrist.
Lightning detonated.
The skull burst outward in a spray of charred fragments.
Natsuki exhaled slowly.
“Don’t slow down.”
Across the corridor—
Aoi spun.
Her dagger moved like silk through water.
An infected grabbed for her shoulder — she stepped inside its reach, slicing upward from abdomen to sternum. She didn’t fully bisect it. She cut just enough.
The body separated internally before collapsing.
Two more rushed her,her fingers touched the floor, the area where the infected stood and turned the concrete beneath the infected into quicksand.
The zombies sank deep into the quicksand while trying to escape then She leapt.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Mid-air, she kicked off a wall, flipped behind them, and carved both Achilles tendons in one downward sweep.
They infected screamed.
She finished them with precise thrusts to the base of the skull.
Clean.
Efficient.
Beautiful.
Near the rear—
Kaito clenched his fist.
Gravity thickened.
The air distorted.
Ten infected charging toward Nezuko suddenly slammed into the ground, their bones compressing under invisible weight. Concrete cracked beneath them as their ribcages flattened.
Kaito’s nose began to bleed.
“Limited,” he muttered. “Still limited…”
The old man stared in horror.
“These kids… monsters…”
---
The horde thinned.
Bodies piled.
The remaining infected retreated ,The pressure lessened.
Nezuko spoke "um...I'm relieved that the infected fled but,um...do zombies usually flee from danger, especially if it's from humans because this is the first time I've seen zombies retreat like that?"
Natsuki replied "maybe this one's feel fear,I mean we were kicking their asses, plus were not ordinary people, we've got abilities.
Kaito replied "yeah Natsuki could be right this time, right guys?"
Aoi said cautiously "let's hope your right Natsuki"
for a moment—
It felt like victory.
Tokita froze.
He felt something weird from within the military basement
“…That’s not normal.” Tokita muttered
Tokita spoke "Hey old man,are there more any kind of mutated infected in here?"
The old man replied "No way!,it's totally safe to go in , trust me I've been here multiple times already,if there was another special infected I would have told you guys already!"
Natsuki annoyed replied to the old man "Sure we trust you, the same way you didn't tell us anything about the infected that just attacked us and nearly paralyzed Kaito!, listen old man if you try to trick us one more time your f**cking dead, do you understand?"
The old man frietened replied "...yeah,i-i understand"
But in his mind he had other thoughts"This f**cking brats just you wait, yeah I know the horde didn't kill you punks and damn your all pretty powerful for your age but with what's about to come, your gonna wish you'd never messed with me!"
A sound came from deeper within the basement.
From the direction of the military storage.
The group had already arrived at their destination where they saw the military jeep they needed with military supplies, equipment and weapons.
As nezuko was parking the supplies then she suddenly turned, then screamed "Kyaaaa guy's, guy's look this way!?" Natsuki replied nervously "Huh,sis you okay!?"
As the group turned they saw a massive Pile of corpses behind them, they where in shock because they didn't even noticed it being there in the first place.
Kaito replied to nezuko"calm down okay seriously, you had us worried for a moment there, it's just a pile of zombie corpses"
Nezuko replied nervously "No...it moved I saw it moved just now,I'm serious!"
Tokita and Natsuki replied simultaneously "Huh!?"
Something massive rose from the sea of corpses.
It unfolded upward — flesh fused with flesh. Arms layered into each other. Faces half-melted into a single grotesque torso.
Crimson eyes opened.
Not feral.
Aware.
The Horde Leader.
It stepped forward—
And vanished.
Impact.
Natsuki'sbody flew across the room before anyone saw the movement.
He smashed through metal shelving and into a concrete pillar. The pillar cracked.
Bone snapped.
Dust exploded.
“Natsuki!” Nezuko shouted.
The creature reappeared behind Tokita
Its arm elongated unnaturally — a cluster of fused limbs forming a hammer-like mass.
It swung.
Kaito forced gravity upward—
The impact shifted trajectory just enough.
The blow still sent Tokita skidding across the floor,
The monster’s gaze moved again.
Strategic.
It wasn’t attacking randomly.
It was analyzing.
Aoi darted in, blade flashing toward its neck—
The creature caught her wrist.
Stopped her.
Crimson eyes met hers.
And squeezed.
Before the bone could snap—
Tokita appeared.
He didn’t sprint.
He exploded.
The floor shattered beneath his launch point.
He intercepted the arm mid-crush and redirected the force downward, slamming the monster’s limb into the concrete with a thunderous crack.
The ground split.
The basement ceiling groaned.
Tokita’s eyes narrowed.
He felt it.
If he released his strength—
This entire structure would collapse.
And his teammates wouldn’t survive it.
So he held back.
The creature lunged again.
Tokita stepped inside its reach.
Palm strike to the fused sternum.
Not explosive.
Precise.
The monster staggered.
Natsuki rose.
Lightning surged brighter.
“No holding back now.”
Aoi recovered beside them.
Kaito wiped blood from his lip.
They moved together.
Tokita drove the creature backward with controlled, devastating body blows — each strike shattering layers of fused bone without unleashing full destructive force.
Natsuki blurred around its flank, carving glowing lines through exposed tissue, electricity frying nerve clusters.
Aoi vaulted upward, dagger plunging into one of the embedded skulls that formed its shoulder — she twisted hard.
Kaito increased gravity on its lower limbs only — pinning its stance.
The monster roared—
And began mutating further.
New limbs sprouted.
More faces fused.
It was evolving mid-battle.
Tokita’s expression hardened.
“Now.”
Combined attack.
Natsuki channeled lightning into Tokita’s forearm.
Kaito compressed gravity around the monster’s core.
Aoi leapt from Tokita’s shoulder—
And drove her dagger directly into the primary crimson eye.
Tokita followed.
His fist crashed forward — controlled but absolute.
The impact imploded the creature’s upper body.
Lightning detonated.
Gravity crushed.
Flesh tore apart from the inside.
The Horde Leader collapsed into twitching fragments.
Silence.
Then—
Laughter, the group started laughing despite some of them sustaining small injury's.
Nezuko finally spoke "Wait, guys where's the old man?"
Unbinounced to them while fighting the leader of the zombie horde the old man took that opportunity to escape.
Aoi said "leave him be, today he was lucky despite lying to us and nearly got us killed, let him go, next time we meet his basically f*cked, besides we got what we came for right?"
