LVI: HORDE

COLLIDING WITH THE BACK END of Kaze’s Astro-Fighter was the Pulsar Missile that one of the two impending Voltairan Astro-Fighters had fired at him moments ago.

Upon being hit by the missile, it had managed to disable Kaze’s fighter instantly, causing it to immediately start ‘nose diving’ down towards the ground.

With fires beginning to erupt from within the cockpit, and his mind in a flurry, Kaze acted on his instincts and quickly drove his feet into the impenametal flooring of the ship’s cockpit.

“Here goes thracking nothing!” Kaze shouted as he used his species’ special ability of ‘enhanced agility’ to jump himself out of his free-falling Astro-Fighter’s cockpit, causing him to break through its impenaglass canopy.

Now ascending briefly up into the rainy skyways, Kaze looked downward through squinted eyes to see his fighter crash and explode after colliding into the side of a massive scrap pile.

Feeling his body beginning to free-fall downwards, Kaze clenched his fists and looked downward again to see that the two other Voltairan Astro-fighters were about to pass right beneath him.

Lowering his brow and gritting his teeth, Kaze shifted his weight so he could fall faster.

A few milli-cycles later, Kaze landed with incredible force down on the nose of one of the two Astro-Fighters.

Looking over his right shoulder, Kaze saw through the fighter’s front main viewport to see the pure shock and terror that was on the pilot’s face.

With a very furious look on his wet and scaly face, Kaze shouted, “THRAAAACK YOOOU!!!!”

Kaze then jumped off of the Astro-Fighter’s nose, causing the ship and its pilot to plummet down towards the Scrap Zone’s trash and debris-laden surface.

The ship exploded in a massive burst of fire and smoke far away from any of the still fleeing slaves.

Noticing this made Kaze smile as he turned his head forward and locked onto the other Astro-Fighter.

For whatever reason, the second fighter had dove a bit downwards, giving Kaze the perfect opportunity to jump onto it as well.

“RAH!!!” the young Jorrakan cried out as he landed on the tail of the second Astro-Fighter and jumped off of it a half-milli-cycle later, causing it to tumble several times backwards before colliding and crashing into another mound of scrap and debris.

As for Lero, he was still busy evading Captain Cyris and the four other Astro-Fighter Pilots’ constant attacks.

Being the ‘ace pilot’ that he was, Lero evaded their attacks with pure grace… Until one of his wings were shot off.

“Urgh… THRACK!” Lero cursed after witnessing his right wing get blown off by a Pulsar Missile, which was fired by none other than Captain Cyris himself.

“A-HA! YES! THERE YOU GO, YOU THRACKER!” Captain Cyris shouted. “THAT SHALL TEACH YOU TO MESS WITH… AGH!!!”

  CRASH!!!

Blasting his still armored head first directly through the nose of Captain Cyris’s Astro-fighter was Kaze, who had used his jump from the last Astro-fighter to launch himself directly towards the Astro-fighter Squadron’s Leader.

“AGH! AAAHHHHH!!!!” Captain Cyris cried out within his cockpit as his Astro-Fighter started to plummet towards Voltaira.

With a mound of scrap growing closer towards him by the milli-cycle, Captain Cyris quickly pulled the pin on his seat’s ejector, causing the ship’s impenaglass roof to blast off along with him and his seat.

As Captain Cyris hovered safely down to the ground with his seat’s built-in ‘Safety Hover System’, Kaze grabbed onto the right wing of a bypassing Astro-Fighter, causing it to lean/drift over and crash into another.

With two more of the Astro-fighters crashing down towards the ground that left two more to deal with.

While Kaze plummeted towards the Scrap Zone’s surface to prepare for yet another ‘super jump’ Lero was still free-falling in the direction of a scrap mound inside of his fighter.

Placing his right hand around the ejector seat’s pull-pin, Lero was about to pull up on it until he had an idea.

Seeing two of the Astro-Fighters on his Holo-Display Screen’s Targeting System, Lero quickly regained control of the Flight Control Sticks and used all of his strength to maneuver the ‘one-winged’ fighter around just enough so he could face them.

With the rear of his ship now nearing the scrap mound, Lero steadied the ship just enough to lock onto the two remaining Astro-Fighters.

“Got you, you thrackers,” Lero grunted as he quickly fired off not one, but TWO Pulsar Missiles directly towards the two remaining Astro-Fighters.

Once he had accomplished this remarkable feat, Lero grabbed a hold of the ejector seat’s pull-pin, ripped it upwards with all of his might, and blasted out of his fighter’s cockpit literal milli-cycles before it crashed into the scrap mound to EXPLODE on fiery impact.

As Lero safely hovered towards the ground in his ejector seat, Kaze, who had just landed back on the ground, was about to jump back up into the air until he heard two loud ‘booming’ sounds echo up above in the Voltairan Skyways.

“Huh? What the thrack?” Kaze huffed in confusion as he laid his eyes upon the two remaining Astro-Fighters that had been blasted into oblivion by the two Pulsar Missiles that Lero had fired at them before escaping his ill-fated fighter.

With all of the Astro-Fighters now having been taken care of, Kaze turned his head to the left to see Lero strapped to his hover seat as it hovered down towards the ground.

Smirking, Kaze ‘super jumped’ over to meet with him as Captain Cyris’s ejector seat landed near one of the four holes that Magnus had opened up in the ground to free all of the slaves from the Prisoner Pits.

` “Urgh… Thrack! THRACK! COME ON, COME ON!!!” Captain Cyris angrily shouted as he desperately tried to break free from the restraints that bound him to his ejector seat, but it was no use.

The restraints were jammed and were far too strong for Captain Cyris to break through, even with the use of his enhanced strength that was gifted to him by the Knight Armor that he was currently wearing.

So, as the Captain continued to try and break free from his ejector seat crawling out of the fourth and most far away hole in the ground was a whole HORDE of Kren.

“Urgh… Come on! Come on,” Captain Cyris continued to grunt as he immediately heard the hissing and feral screeches that filtered from the Kren’s toothy-mouths.

Eyes widened behind the lenses of his battle helmet, Captain Cyris slowly turned his armored head to the left to see the Kren Horde crawling right towards his positions.

Quivering in fear, Captain Cyris said, “Nuh-No… No. No, no, no… NOOOOO!!!!!”

Then, without warning, the Kren Horde trampled over the Captain and immediately started tearing him apart LIMB FROM LIMB in the matter of mere milli-cycles.

Whilst the cursed Kren devoured Captain Cyris a couple of mounds away from their position, Kaze had landed with a loud ‘THUD’ noise beside Lero, who had also just touched ground.

“Urgh… Thrack!” Lero cursed after he had unbuckled his ejector seat’s restraints.

“Lero, are you alright?!” Kaze asked in an adrenaline fueled tone to the Rannukan Mercenary.

“Urgh… I’m fine,” Lero huffed. “Just thracking exhausted is all. Did we get them? Did we get ALL of them?”

Looking up at the Astro-Fighter cleared, but still ‘rainy’ skyways overhead, Kaze nodded, “Yeah. I think that we…”

“AAAAAAAAAIYYYYYYYEEEEE!!!!!!!” cried out one of the female slaves from off in the distance, triggering both Kaze and Lero to immediately turn around in their direction.

“KREN!!!!!!!!” one of the male slaves yelled as several of the enslaved prisoners of Emperor Voltair ran in terror from an impending horde of murderous savages.

Eyes widened and jaw dropped both Kaze and Lero froze immediately in shock.

With the Kren snarling and screeching after the fleeing slaves, overcoming a few in their horrifying wake, Kaze continued to stare at them in mouth gaping awe as Lero lowered his brow and said, “Pulsar Saber.”

“Huh?” Kaze huffed whilst keeping his eyes locked on the Kren.

Turning to Kaze, Lero raged, “Give me your thracking Pulsar Saber! The one on your hip! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!”

Looking down at his armor’s utility belt, which housed not one, but TWO Pulsar Saber hilts that were attached to each of his hips (luckily), Kaze quickly ripped the one that was on his right hip and tossed it over to Lero.

Catching it in his right hand, Lero pressed the circular golden button that was on its hilt, causing its 238/4th inch long, golden zilitium blade to extend.

“Are you ready for another fight, Jorrakan?” Lero asked Kaze after twirling the blade in his right hand before clasping its hilt with both.

Looking away from Lero and back at the impending Kren Horde, Kaze groaned, “I guess that I don’t have much of a choice… Do I?”

As Kaze drew out the other Pulsar Saber, Lero replied whilst glaring at the Kren Horde, “No… YOU DO NOT.”
