Chapter 67: The Binding of Souls

  Saki

I felt whatever color I had left drain from my face. Tama blinked as she looked down at my dress, at Anna. Tama slowly reached for Serenity, her eyes almost milky, her face neutral. She had just lost herself to anger. Oh, void, this was going to get bad.

“Tama, Tama, calm down! Listen to me, this is Anna. S he does not know any better!” I said, trying to calm the situation down.

Tama was not listening anymore, and she swung down. She was so fast I did not even see her move. Suddenly, I was in the air, and my skin was ethereal. “Wow, that was close!” Anna said. I stared in shock. Had Tama just tried to kill me?

“Looks like it. Some best friend!” Anna said with her playful voice.

I felt rage snap in me. “No, this is YOUR FAULT. I was so close to calming her down, and you set her off! Tama is clearly emotional, and you made her snap!”

“Look, if she was truly your best friend, she would not be trying to kill you!” Anna said casually. Even as she spoke, Tama appeared in front of us and snarled at me before swinging. This time, I caught a glimpse and noticed she was not aiming at me, but near me.

I frowned, even as Anna pulled us further away, Tama following. This happened a few more times until Tama did something very strange. She smiled at me. That smile widened and she shouted . “Found you!” She blinked right in front of me, then swung over me. I heard a screech of pain, a familiar screech, and I fell from the sky.

Tama caught me right as I was about to hit the ground and gently landed on the ground. Anna, now in her amorphous form, made a beeline for Tama and entered her body. I watched in horror as she entered Tama.

I tensed, ready for anything. However, after a moment, Anna was suddenly and unceremoniously thrown out of Tama, who immediately swung down on the creature. Anna dodged back with a hiss and turned into the little girl form she liked and hissed at Tama. Tama blinked and swung without mercy.

“I submit!” The words came out so unexpectedly from Anna, I blinked in surprise.

Serenity stopped a mere inch from Anna, and Tama asked, “Do you promise?”

Anna nodded fiercely. Now that I could see her, she was shaking. Fear was clear on her face.

I stared in stunned silence. Had Tama just beaten an ancient entity from possessing her and won a fight against her? Tama was known to do a lot of crazy stuff, but this had to take the cake for me.

Tama pulled Serenity back and put it in its sheath. She then held out a hand to the now trembling Anna. Anna looked at the hand fearfully for a moment before taking it.

After pulling her up, Tama simply turned and walked over to me with a smile on her face. A smile that turned into a frown when she reached me. “Tama needs that slave man to pay for his crimes!” she said indignantly as she crossed her arms. “You are super smart, Saki. I know you can figure something out!”

I stared for a moment before shaking my head. “No, Tama, you need to tell me how you stopped Anna from possessing you!”

“I mean, I do not think that is really…” Anna started, but before she could finish, Tama had Serenity at her neck again. I had not even seen Tama move. Anna paled visibly, which was impressive for a creature like her.

“It is rude to interrupt people!” Tama said in a calm voice, but her tone brooked no argument. “Tama would kill you for being annoying, but Sensei always said to give second chances to water spirits.”

I froze at that, and realization hit me like a ton of bricks. Water spirits, the water, divinity. I facepalmed hard. I looked over at Anna, the divine water spirit, and sighed heavily. It all made perfect sense now. Of course she would be casual about murder. She was clearly a divine spirit. Their kind were playful and chaotic, a lot like Tama, but tended to stir the pot more.

“I have to know, Anna, is there really a mythical sea creature in that lake?” I asked curiously, this time looking at her closely.

“There is!” Anna said seriously as she looked at me. “He is super dangerous and deadly!”

I raised an eyebrow and crossed my arms. Anna blanched after a moment and said under her breath, “I mean, he is dangerous…”

“He is not as big as you claimed, though, is he!” I snapped.

Anna perked up at that and giggled. “Oh, no, he is that big!”

I froze at that, but then Tama spoke up. “Oh, does Saki mean Reedril? He is super nice! He gave Tama fish when she was hungry!”

I looked over at Anna, who was staring at Tama in a mixture of confusion and horror. Honestly, I could empathize. “Wait until you hear about her tales with dragons,” I said casually.

Anna’s head turned on a swivel, and she stared at me. “Dragons?!” she said in surprised horror.

“Oh, yes, she is best friends with a few of them. Apparently, they used to visit her all the time,” I stated simply.

Anna looked at me suspiciously. “You are messing with me!” she said indignantly.

“Saki is telling the truth! Mantheria is a lovely green dragon!” Tama said with happiness in her voice, as if recalling a fond memory of her and a dragon named Mantheria.

Anna looked between us before simply nodding to herself. She put on a bright smile and said, “Alright, I have decided. W e are all best friends now!”

I rolled my eyes, but Tama giggled and said, “Best friends forever!” The two then proceeded to hug. At which point, Anna entered Tama’s body, and was summarily ejected again. Both insane psychopaths laughed and began telling stories.

I rubbed my temples. Great, another friend. Hopefully, she would not be as bad as Usaki. I winced.

I ignored their antics until Anna attempted to possess me again. I panicked, only to see she was just becoming my outfit. “See, Tama, I make an amazing outfit!” Anna said as she became my dress, underwear, and bra. I did have to admit, she did feel very comfortable.

“Nya, clothes are still clothes, and all clothes are evil!” Tama said angrily as she stomped her foot aggressively.

I sighed at their antics before an idea hit me. “You know, Tama, technically, Anna could make you look like you are wearing clothes while not feeling like you are wearing clothes!”

There was a pause as both Anna and Tama looked at each other. Anna suddenly detached from me, and the void once again returned, but this was the fourth timeI was not getting used to it. Anna wrapped around Tama, and a moment later, Tama was suddenly wearing my outfit.

“Nya! Tama does not like these clothes!” Tama said, annoyed. Anna shifted again, and Tama now appeared to be wearing her ninja gi.

Tama’s eyes went wide, and she reached down to touch her gi. It shimmered and vanished before reappearing on her. She looked genuinely overjoyed.

I, however, had no clothes now. Since I was underground in an empty city with only Tama, who hated clothes; a divine water spirit, who was playing as clothes for Tama so she did not have to wear them; and a metric ton of goblins.

I was not all that upset about being naked. That being said, I looked over at the goblin city. We could always kill two birds with one stone. I grinned as I began walking toward the goblin city.

Tama blinked ahead of me, then started exploring around me as I walked. Anna tried to enter Tama and was thrown out again, only to re-wrap herself up as her ninja gi. Tama, for her part, was completely unfazed and thought it was funny.

The guards outside the city tensed when they saw us approach, but I waved my hand and said, “I need to buy some clothes, I lost mine!” They let us in easily enough after that, with a promise from me that Tama would not attack or kill anyone without good reason. The mere fact they specified “good reason” made me wonder what good reason would be?

Finding decent clothes was surprisingly easy. There was a lovely little shop that sold my kind of outfits. And less than an hour later, I had a new pretty sapphire dress on with a cut that ran up to my thigh. When I moved it just right, you could see my lingerie panties. A little illusion magic, and they were see-through. All their bras were the wrong size for some reason, but I just got the biggest one they had.

While I was there, I gathered some information from the goblin male, whose lecherous gaze never left my exposed thigh. I might have slipped a few times, revealing what was underneath. He seemed to enjoy the show. I was, at the bare minimum, having fun.

After that, we made our way to the slave tent. We needed to have a nice long chat with our dear friend about stealing gold. Before we went in, though, I pulled Tama to the side and bent over. To anyone looking in at us, they would think I was talking to her belly. I smirked at that thought. “Anna, I need you to do me a little favor.” I grinned as I spoke and winked at Tama’s gi.
