Pov: Vik
I woke up in the morning. Last night, after taking care of Lina, I was so tired that I went straight to my room after putting her in her designated room. I fell asleep instantly.
At some point, Pushpa came in and chose to sleep on my chest. I think she likes it there, but it didn’t disturb my sleep.
When I woke up, the first thing I did was hold Pushpa, who was still snoring on my chest, and cuddle her for a minute. After that, I got up and checked the time; it was 4:30 in the morning.
I was 30 minutes late for my usual wake-up time. I make it a point to wake up early, as I need to set a good example for my students.
I really wanted to go back to the Great Fire forest to bathe in that pond, but after thinking about it for a moment, I dropped the idea and decided to shower in my room instead. I headed to the living hall and found Roman, who was already ready after showering. He is a punctual guy, just like me.
I didn’t see Lu Xiaoran or Lina; they must still be getting ready. I asked Roman about Sherry, and he said she still didn’t remember her full memories and was acting like a child, sticking close to him.
Right now, Sherry is still sleeping in her room while the medical equipment created by the system treats her. While we talked, Lu Xiaoran came down after his bath. He sat down, but I noticed tension on his face. I immediately asked, “Lu Xiaoran, why are you so tense?”
He looked at me and said, “Master, this morning my mother’s personal maid called. The court hearing for my mother, which was supposed to be months away, is happening today.”
Hearing this made me tense, too; something that was meant to be far off was suddenly upon us. The most important thing was that we didn’t have enough evidence to clear the criminal case against his mother.
I didn’t want to discourage my student, so I sighed and said, “Disciple, this is a good thing. Now your mother won’t have to wait another month in prison.”
His eyes lit up as he said, “Master, did you already plan for this situation?”
Before I could answer, Roman chimed in, “That’s normal for the master. Lu Xiaoran, did you forget that our master is a great being beyond the comprehension of this world?”

Seeing my disciples so optimistic about me, I simply nodded while feeling somewhat uneasy inside. Now this court trial is even more critical, as my reputation is on the line.
We discussed our plan for the hearing, and after some time, I noticed that Lina was still not down. It was 6 o'clock in the morning. Concerned about her health, I entered her room. There she was, sleeping soundly. I tried to wake her, but instead of getting up, she said, “Servant, I don’t want to wake up, so get out of here.”
She still thought she was at home. I simply picked her up and put her on her feet. She protested but finally woke up from her sleepy state. When she saw me, she trembled and said, “Master, I’m sorry I didn’t notice you.”
I replied, “It’s okay. You’re still recovering from your trauma. Now tell me, do you still feel your memories fading?”
After thinking for a minute, she replied, “No, Master, my memories aren’t fading anymore, but I still can’t remember certain things or the memories that have already faded.”
Seeing her so tense, I smiled and patted her head. “Disciple, don’t worry. The problem is solved, and your memories will slowly come back over time. Normally, I would start your training right away, but today we have something important to do, and you’re coming with us. Now, go and freshen up before coming downstairs. I’ll be waiting with your fellow disciples.”
After saying this, I went back to the living room and saw Roman. Sherry was also with him, trying to snuggle in his arms, but he was trying hard to keep her away. Seeing her gave me an idea. She could be my trump card in rescuing Lu Xiaoran’s mother. I smiled and said, “Roman, don’t treat Sherry harshly; she’s just trying to get close to you. You don’t need to treat her like a lady; just treat her like a little girl for now.”
Roman tried to say something, but I interrupted him, saying, “Roman, do as I say and coax Sherry. I have a plan, and this plan needs Sherry. You have to ask her to help us.”
Roman and Lu Xiaoran looked at me, confused. Sherry gazed at me with innocent eyes. I just smiled at all of them.
Pov: Third person
In the government district of Azure Mountain City, there are many important buildings, like the mayor’s office and various other offices. One building stands out from the rest.
This building has the vibe of old architectural design in a modern era. It resembles a town hall and serves as the city court. The court oversees all legal matters in the city. Even after the apocalypse, society still needs a functioning judiciary, and this court ensures that it remains so.
Soon, a bus stopped at the nearest bus stand, and many people got off. Among them, five individuals stood out from the crowd: two men—one young with black hair and one older with purple hair. Two girls had silver and green hair. But the one who attracted the most attention from the crowd was the young man walking in front of this group.
He had white hair, wore black goggles, and dressed in an all-white shirt, black pants, and a black overcoat. This was clearly the attire of a lawyer, and Vik was currently acting as one.
