The Gift of Shen Mong

The tall branches of the trees swayed with the gentle touch of the breeze, the cool breeze from distant lands clinging to the soft grass with its dewdrops. But unlike other areas, this di?n v??o Valley boasted the fragrance of all kinds of blooming flowers and the scent of freshly picked leaves. Drawn by this natural wonder, many animals make their journey to the di?n v??o Valley. Consequently, numerous animals could be seen here. Deer, rabbits, and birds, all large and small, flocked to this valley in search of warmer weather. Their calls echoed throughout the air. Almost every type of herbivorous animal flocked here to feast on the soft and delicious grass.

A herd of deer was leisurely grazing on the grass, which was also covered in colorful flowers. Just then, some of the deer retreated in fear as Grandmaster Gongzhang and Gu Zong passed very close by. Gu Zong walked onward, passing by. As he walked, Gu Zong's eyes were fixed on his own footsteps, his face calm, and he didn't even hear the noise of the deer yelping nearby. But Grandmaster He walked as calmly as ever, as if his soul felt at peace, a faint smile on his lips, a small part of his inner peace.

Just then, Gu Zong's cool, calm voice echoed in the air.

"But how…?" Gu Zong asked, looking up at the sky. "A mantra so vast that has only one meaning, 'to be'… how is that possible?" Gu Zong looked up at the sky, where bluetail birds flew beneath fluffy white clouds, heading towards the unique river in front.

Grandmaster Gongzhang, too, saw bluetail birds passing overhead, his stern expression softening slightly, a smile evident in his heavy yet gentle tone as he responded to Gu Zong's request.

"Good question, Gu Zong," Grandmaster Gongzhang said, stopping right where a herd of deer was grazing nearby. "That's why this mantra was placed under the protection of the jiuhuang yin zither. Whoever chants this mantra with whatever feeling, for whatever purpose, the talisman seals it, these mantras become the essence of that feeling." As soon as these words left Grandmaster Gu Zong's mouth, his eyes widened to the limit. His steps froze, but the Grandmaster continued.

"These words can transform into any sentence for you. If you want to say "I am strong,"

These words will be transformed into "I am strong" by embodying this feeling. They will provide you with energy within these feelings, and they can even connect the consciousness of any two souls." Gu Zong listened to Grandmaster Gongzhang's voice like a religious story, his eyes flashing back to the lake scene where he first saw the jiuhuang yin zither. Just then, the Grandmaster's footsteps were heard. Gu Zong looked at him and said, "It's quite surprising that this tìmotì language, despite being a language, isn't a language." Saying this, the Grandmaster moved forward, taking his story with him. Gu Zong followed him with heavy steps.

"And as soon as Shen Mong cast this spell, the dragon's consciousness and his own consciousness connected. Shen Mong spoke, 'How are you?' and the dragon responded."

After saying this, the Grandmaster paused to take a deep breath, but at that very moment, Gu Zong, who was following behind, quickly spoke up, "Grandmaster, why are you silent? Tell me what the dragon said?"

Hearing this, the Grandmaster laughed lightly and continued walking.

"The dragon replied in his conscious voice, 'Young Master, thank you, I am now well. A little rest can heal me. Thank you very much for worrying about me and taking care of me.'" With that, the dragon fell asleep. But then Shen Mong asked him, 'What is your name? What should I call you?' The dragon opened its eyes and replied in its conscious voice, 'Tìmotì.'

At this, a bright smile appeared on the Grandmaster's face, which Gu Zong could only stare at. His pride was evident in that smile, which his calm face could not hide. But even more so, Gu Zong's face displayed a mixture of surprise and satisfaction. Grandmaster Gongzhang then said,

"Then, that very day, Shen Mong named this language Tìmotì. It was not only named after Timoti, but his soul is also connected to this language. Shen Mong helped many animals in the forest with this one mantra. Years later, when he became famous for his work, he wrote a treatise on animal life, also called Tìmotì, which is still preserved today in a Tao Hua Chuan academy of a great and ancient sect. In it, he explained what each animal thinks and does.

And this is how the Tìmotì language was born, and then the Jiuhuang Yin zither, which was designed to preserve this language."
