Chapter 11: Milk

I walked up to the lying sword. It was very large and probably incredibly sharp... It was probably quite ordinary, but at that moment it was hypnotic. My gaze, my attention, even my hands were drawn to it.It was a normal gray color, the hilt was ordinary, and the guard was rectangular.

I gently ran my finger along its tip. And even with such a slight pressure, I felt my finger cutting. A white line from the sword appeared on my finger.

I wish I could fight with that!It would be so much fun to do all those sword tricks!Like that girl.Could my sword cut like that?

My eyes lit up with desire! I wish I could try that as soon as possible!

Or maybe I should learn to fight with small daggers like my fox's? They look so small and frivolous, but I bet they could cut quite a bit!

While I was busy daydreaming and thinking about all sorts of things, the fox settled down on the bed and looked at me with half-closed eyes. She saw the girl standing by the sword, gazing at it as if it were the most beautiful landscape. A small glimmer of common sense flashed through the fox's mind and she wondered if it was a bit too early for a child to dream of fighting with a sword. But on the other hand, she would be rewarded even more for such a capable demon!

All these dreams are so complicated... I was really hungry, and the pain throughout my body wouldn't go away. After looking at the sword and daydreaming for a bit longer, I finally tore my eyes away from it and walked toward the milk.

I walked over and opened the can and began to drink a little.

  Little by little.

  Little by little.

Warmth and pleasure spread throughout my body. My taste buds were indescribably delighted, my body was jubilant, and my mind wanted more. Even the muscle pain momentarily disappeared, and there was only immense relief.

Sip after sip, and already half the can was empty. Each sip was ecstasy for me; it's good that I had so much...

And so, having filled my stomach to capacity, I put the now almost completely empty can back. I would have continued drinking it if I could. It was simply wonderful!

  Ah...

It hurt, again... so, so much pain. All my muscles, inside and out, my eyes and chest, my legs and arms, all ached incredibly. And my eyes began to swim with pain. And the milk felt so good... If only I could have a few more sips...

Before I could even open the can of milk, I fell unconscious. My body swayed and throbbed. My temperature rose, and my blood pressure skyrocketed.

The fox, watching all this, was initially indifferent and continued about her business.

But when the girl didn't wake up after a record-breaking week, she became a little worried. The girl was extremely hot, even though the snow was already raging outside. She lay on the floor, moaning incoherently in pain.

Her face was filled with pain: her eyebrows were drawn together, her eyes twitched beneath her eyelashes, and her lips were pressed together. The fox saw the girl's condition, but to her regret, there was nothing she could do. After all, she was a mage, not a healer or a doctor.

The fox still went outside to kill animals for herself. She even found a flint. Well, not she, but her daggers, which pointed to it. The fox didn't even want to take it, considering it useless trash, but her daggers were determined. They were also determined that the fox would carry the firewood into the house. The fox was forced to comply and carry it into the house.

And so, after two more weeks of endless moans and rapid breathing, the girl's body finally began to recover.

Fox, noticing this, felt her temperature finally drop, and her face began to express slightly less pain than before. She herself looked a little older. Her body was now three feet tall. Surprisingly, she didn't look thin, not having eaten anything; on the contrary, she was very slender.

Finally, after two more days, the girl woke up. Her eyelids slowly lifted, her gaze unfocused, and a drawn-out groan escaped her lips. Fox watched all this with curiosity.

  -...! Aaaah agclod.

How dry my mouth is... And so cold, I want to drink, drink this divine nectar... where is it...

Not accustomed to her body growing larger, she began to walk towards her "salvation" with wild eyes. As she approached, she caught the fox's disapproving gaze, but she no longer cared as the incredibly delicious and nourishing liquid poured down her throat.

Warmth spread throughout her body... Her heart seemed to start beating again, and breathing became much easier. Having finished the last can, she continued drinking from the next. Until the last can was empty. Now she stood and looked down at the empty cans, trying to find further solace in these incredible juices. But to her regret, they were all empty. Now she stood and looked at them with a blank stare. And her body no longer felt the warmth, pleasure, and serenity it had felt just recently. All the benefits of this liquid had turned into immense pain throughout her body, stabbing repeatedly in different places.

  "Ahhh... ohhh...."

The pain in her body grew more and more intense. It felt like every muscle was clenching, tearing, stretching, tearing, and so on in a circle. This pain, like a snowball, pressed ever harder on the girl's mind.

If only there was more of this milk... I want more, I want more...

Her whole body was tingling, and her hands began to scratch each other on their own. From her palm to her forearm, from her forearm to her shoulder, and back again. With each swing of her hands, the force in her hands grew stronger and stronger. To the point that blood appeared in some places. But she didn't feel it, as her body slowly cooled from the low temperature in the house and outside.

The fox, seeing all this, frantically began stacking wood in the stove. One log after another, until it was completely full. She picked up a flint she'd found and began making a spark.

The ice dagger cut sharply through the flint, and there wasn't even a spark. Apparently, her ice was having a negative effect on the sparks from the flint. She slowly approached the girl and began thrusting the sword and flint under her nose.

What do you want, fox? ... Why do I need this? I don't understand. It's so cold I can't even scratch myself... So cold without that juice of life...

Why are you shoving your pebble in my face? You see, I feel uneasy...

Kali's hands stopped moving, almost numb from the cold. Frost formed on her eyelashes, and her gaze was abysmal.

Once... I felt something like this... When I thought I was going to die... Then my brain also stopped thinking about all sorts of things and focused on one thing. On survival. And what am I supposed to do now since I didn't have that miracle elixir.

Forgive me, fox... You were so kind to me, and I couldn't even survive to repay you...

And here I am again, in the void. In Eternity. Again, many nebulae are wandering here. But as I thought, it's not here. That same red nebula. It decided to give me life so I could waste it so foolishly. I wish I could apologize to it.

So much has happened in this short period of time. Hah. So many times I managed to survive when they wanted to kill me, and then the ordinary cold took over. Or did something else kill me? Yes... The lack of that milk killed me.

I wish I could drink it again now, at least for the last time...

My vision began to turn blue. As if the ice itself was lulling me. The nebulae were now like a mirage. As if they weren't even there.

My arms were tingling... As if they were being cut.

Wait, how are they being cut? I'm in Eternity... There's no concept of a body here. Only the mind...

I began to lower my gaze, but the ice on my sides seemed to resist me. I began to pull my head downwards even more. My neck began to ache intensely, and now it wasn't from muscle soreness, but from fatigue.

I reached up, which I managed easily, and began to push my head down. I hoped to see my body there. That would let me know I wasn't in Eternity yet and that I had a chance to survive!

My hand, pressing on my head, suddenly hit something, and a tremor and pain ran through my arm. As if I'd hit something. I tried again.

  Again and again.

  Again and again.

I punched again and again. And at one point, the invisible wall finally gave way, and I lowered my head. Looking at my body, I saw numerous cuts on my arms. I was horrified and didn't understand how I'd received so many wounds! I don't remember fighting anyone in the last seconds of my life...

Looking at my motionless body, my gaze darted to my other arm. Which began to move on its own. She pretended to pick something up and swung it sharply. I began to resist, not knowing what might happen next. My hand slowly lowered, and I felt an invisible wall and felt my hand tremble again. But this time, it was accompanied by warmth.

It was so strong, so soothing, that my eyes involuntarily began to cry. The warmth enveloped me completely, as if it wanted to protect me. Under all this relief, I shed a tear and involuntarily closed my eyes, trying to feel every moment and every bit of warmth.

"Forgive me..." A sound sounded somewhere in the distance. Incomprehensible to anyone but herself. A red nebula spread out behind the sleeping girl. She truly felt sorry for her for everything.
