Chapter 2

  Chapter 2

Amos couldn’t believe it. Dr. Jackson and General Carter, two members of the legendary team SG1 were dead. Dr. Jackson and General Carter survived countless struggles together. The Goa'uld, Replicators, and even the Ori all tried to kill them but failed. Sadly, it only took a faulty new hyperdrive on a cold winter’s day to destroy these legends of history. Even so, two former members of Earth’s elite team of explorers perished right in front of his eyes.

Amos stood at the edge of the valley, taking in his surroundings. Jagged rocks towered around him, ancient trees swayed gently in the breeze, and a majestic mountain loomed in the distance, casting a long shadow over a bubbling stream that wound its way through the landscape. His gaze was drawn to the Stargate gleaming ahead, its surface shimmering with an otherworldly allure.

He peered around, but the familiar faces of his fellow members of the Hammond were nowhere to be seen. They must have activated the gate and departed for Earth without him. With a surge of urgency, Amos sprinted toward the DHD, memories flooding back as he entered the familiar sequence of symbols. This was the very address every new recruit at Stargate Command was commanded to memorize—the gateway home to Earth.

  “Kaswoosh!”

The gate made its usual sound as the watery colored event horizon took shape. Amos put in his Iris access code, the passcode that opens the protective Iris on Earth’s gate, and waited for the confirmation. “SG1 IDC RECEIVED. ACCESS GRANTED,” the confirmation screen read. Amos then picked up Daniel’s belongings and went through to Earth. As he approached the event horizon, however, something unusual happened. The sundial on the ancient device he was carrying started to glow. Amos looked at the strange device puzzled, having no clue what it meant. Running out of time, he ignored the ominous glow and ran through the gate. He didn’t look up, He didn’t look back, all he could do now was move forward. The Hammond was destroyed, Daniel and Sam were dead, he had to get back to Stargate Command. When Amos walked through the gate, however, he didn’t see the rocky walls of Stargate Command, its stalwart soldiers and trinium layered blast doors. Instead, he saw a large hallway covered in mahogany, filled with small grey men with round heads and webbed feet.

“What the Fuck!” he blurted out.

A small grey man about 4 feet tall, looked up at him and said,

  “What the Fuck, indeed.”
