Last Orders Before The Island Went Missing

LAST ORDERS BEFORE THE ISLAND WENT MISSING

A Compilation of Witness Statements, Bar Tabs, and Unreliable Timelines

  Collected by Garnet Estrada

The Garnet Line — Incident Appendix

  “I remember the toast.

I don’t remember what it was for.”

  — Dockhand, Ferry 3B

  Hy-Brasil did not vanish quietly.

  It vanished mid-conversation.

What follows are the last recorded fragments of the island, gathered from establishments that no longer exist, patrons who cannot agree on what they drank, and systems that insist nothing unusual occurred.

  All timestamps are approximate.

  Most are wrong.

STATEMENT 1 — BARTENDER, THE SALT WOUND

“They were already loud when I came on shift.

  Which is normal.

But the laughter kept syncing up. You ever hear a room laugh together?

  That’s not normal.”

  Bar Tab Excerpt:

Mead, amber (unknown origin) — 14

  Rum — 9

Something green that burned — 3

  Water — 0

“Nobody ordered water. That’s how I knew it was a good night.”

Timestamp: 22:14 (clock later found to be 37 minutes fast)

STATEMENT 2 — MERCHANT, OUTER DOCKS

“I sold nothing that night and made more money than ever.

People kept paying tabs that weren’t theirs.”

  Receipt Fragment:

  Paid by: ???

  Balance: Settled

“Someone said the island felt ‘steady.’

I remember thinking that was a strange thing to say.”

  Timestamp: 21:02 (possibly after 22:14)

STATEMENT 3 — MUSICIAN, THE DRIFTWOOD CROWN

“The song changed on its own.

  Same melody, different ending.

Every time we reached the chorus, it came back wrong.”

STATEMENT 4 — SECURITY FEED, PUB DISTRICT

  Footage shows:

  Patrons raising glasses

A visible flicker in the background (unidentified)

  Timestamp: 00:00

(Multiple systems report midnight lasting 18 minutes)

STATEMENT 6 — LOCAL REGULAR, UNKNOWN NAME

“Hy-Brasil always did that thing where you couldn’t remember when you arrived.

That night, I couldn’t remember why I stayed.”

  Bar Tab:

  Mead — “same again”

  Mead — “same”

  Mead — “whatever they’re having”

“Someone toasted to ‘good trades and better friends.’

Or maybe ‘good friends and better trades.’

STATEMENT 8 — BAR TAB, THE BLEEDING STAR

  Final Entry:

  ROUND ON THE HOUSE

No bartender on record authorized this.

“That was the moment,” said three different patrons,

  describing three different moments.

STATEMENT 9 — GARNET ESTRADA (RECORDED)

  “Something’s wrong.

  Not bad-wrong.

  Quiet-wrong.”

  “Everyone’s happy.

  That’s the problem.”

  Recording ends with:

  Glasses clinking

  A cheer

A low, distant sound described later as “like the ocean inhaling”

  Timestamp: Unrecoverable

  AFTER-ACTION NOTE

Every witness agrees on three things:

  1. They were drinking.

  2.
  3. They were not afraid.

  4.
  5. They did not notice the island leaving.

  6.

  Disagreement begins immediately after.

  Some remember fog.

  Some remember laughter.

  Some remember nothing at all.

One person insists they remember sobriety.

That person did not survive Sector 94.1A.

  Compiler’s Note (Estrada):

Hy-Brasil didn’t disappear because no one was watching.

It disappeared because everyone was watching the wrong thing.
