Death.

  Death was everywhere.

  The leaders of the world had tried to keep them secret. They had failed. Miserably.

  Nobody knows where they came from, but they call themselves the Arcania. They can be human, but are often not. Elves, dragonborn, and lizardfolk, are what the most popular races resemble.

  They look as if they came from our idea of fantasy, and they are stronger than our concept of the physical laws would have allowed.

  We only know of a precious few powers though. They haven't been the most generous with information.

  We, as humanity, with all our pride, greed, and "power", are, in my personal opinion, fucked, if they choose to kill us.

  That said, many haven't been idle.

  Oh no, of course they have not. Many would rather die than risk being overpowered in such a way.

  Even though they haven't been very hostile towards us (yet) they brought something along with them. the way they got here had reprocussions that they had not thought through.

  They had brought magic to our world, and they had brought monsters with it.
