Prelude: The dark night

The night wind was cold and breezy. The school was overcast in shadows mirroring demons

from the depths of some deranged mind, constantly shifting under the silver sheen covering

every surface in sight. The dead of the night was only greeted by the chirping of crickets and

rustling of leaves. The shadows are joined by another long shadow, along with the sound of

footsteps. Subdued yet heaved breathing can be hard mingled with the surroundings, as if it

  was always there.

“I wish I could have stopped this damned habit of mine before it fucking escalated”, pondered

the man while climbing the stairs to the school, each step adding to the misery and burning of

  lungs.

“Why this place, and this time!? Couldn’t that damn Ralph had found a better fucking time!? I

swear to God, I am gonna punch him so hard, he will wish he was dead instead.” Along with the

yells a hearty laughter resounded from the yard of school.

“You are there aren’t you? Is this some sick joke? It is so fucking cold out here, and I had to

climb bajjilion stairs just to have a chat with you? Do you think I am a moron?” said Anthony,

just as he reached the summit of the steps.

  “Well, answer-“,

“Of course not my friend, your mind is one of the things I admire most about you, sadly I can’t

say the same about your body, you should really work on your health.” said Ralph, which raised

the ire of Anthony even more.

“You better not cut me mid-sentence next time or else you would be envious of the body I

  have.”

“Dude don’t get so serious, I was just kidding, where is your humor and adventurous spirit, the

night is beautiful and the air is full of mystery, it is a perfect time to meet up tony my friend.”

“I am not here to comment on any preconceived notion of beauty you have, if I wasn’t so

interested in the subject I wouldn’t dare associate myself with the likes of you.”, which set off

Ralph’s nerves, and his brows furrowed.

“I get it, I get it, calm down. We will talk , but first I have to show you something, come with

me, it’s on the second floor.” Gestured Ralph towards the middle of the building.

  “Great, more fucking stairs!”.

“Why do I always encounter such weirdos?” muttered Ralph under his breath.

“Did you say something?” asked Anthony.

“Nope, we are just about to reach the place, it’s the second from the right on the corridor.”

Both men slowly approached the door to the right, the only sound being the sound of breathing

intermingled with the rustling wind, a creaking is heard as the Ralph twists the handle, and an

empty space is visible illuminated by the silver glow from the windows. A dull suffocating

feeling is being emanated from the room,

“There seems to be some dull colour on the floor”, muttered Anthony.

“Yeah man, nobody knows who died or how, this place was under tight investigation for

months, yet no results, no DNA matches, although the blood was a mix of a Human and mice.”

The floor was stained in a dull brown colour, invoking feelings of disgust in Anthony, for he

noticed the same colour throughout the corridor, and the stairs, on the windows and the walls,

the implication of which filled him with dread.
