Talismans turned to ashes; spirit stones to dust.
This was how cultivators battled.
A contest of endurance? No, it was all about who had the deepest foundation!
But even Wu Dawei didn’t want to keep wasting his wealth on this iron pte that he kicked!
Besides, time was running out...
“Gotta end this soon! Another big move should do the trick...”
Once another spirit stone crumbled into dust, Wu Dawei felt that his Qi has recovered a good amount. “Enough.”
His gaze fell back down to the supposedly half-dead turtle shrinking his head underwater.
But at this time, he noticed something strange.
“Wuh? Why did it seem... that cockroach actually got much closer? No… wrong. It’s...”
His sight snapped to the edge of the arena.
There, he noticed the water line was much lower than before!
Earlier, the water was enough to drown a tall man twice over. Now? Looks like it barely measures to the height of the average man!
The water dispced by the underwater explosion earlier had long since settled. That meant this was all there was left!
So where did the half the water go?! Is there a leak in the arena barrier?
Wu Dawei’s spiritual sense pulsed out like a sonar wave, trying to track the flow of the currents to pinpoint the cause.
His vicious gaze soon locked onto the underwater camper—or to more precise, the pouch the drowned rat was using as a breathing mask.
“So that’s what you’ve been pnning...”
Wu Dawei sneered in mockery. “Heh. Here I thought you still had some clever tricks up your sleeve, but this is the ridiculous idea you came up with?”
“Ridiculous. Just ridiculous! You really think getting rid of the water will save you? Naive! It only brings you closer to death!”
Wu Dawei’s hand fshed through a series of seals and his palm spped down into the water.
“Water Style: Deep Sea Bomb technique!”
At once, a small bubble started ballooning down into the water from his palm...
Facing the birth of this ever-so-close threat, the drowned rat pying dead downstairs woke up immediately and quickly paddled away like a turtle!
“Want to escape? Naive!”
Light as a feather on a pond, Wu Dawei skimmed across the surface and chased after the swimmer like a hawk after a rabbit.
Surprisingly, the growing bubble didn’t stay where it was, but mirrored its caster and followed along!
Not only that, Wu Dawei’s other hand did not stay idle.
Silvery needles popped out like cws and a flick of his hand fired them into the water like bullets!
Psh! Psh! Psh!
The water slowed down the needles, but they still drilled down toward the fleeing Bubai like mini torpedoes!
Gurgle! Gurgle! Merlin’s woolly socks!
Bubai pushed his half-mended body to the limit, twirling and flipping sideways like an eel to evade the net of needles…
Those needles whizzed past and hit rock bottom. Easy. But...
Dodge a set, and more kept coming! And fast too!
Hardly surprisingly though. The shallow water has its downsides.
Some weapons once useless in deeper water now worked like a charm to disrupt his movement!
And this wasn’t the only bad news.
A peek overhead let Bubai catch sight of the suspended bubble that already swelled to the size of a yoga ball.
His stomach sank like an anchor. Now that… is real bad news.
Back when he’d first read up the file about this vilin, Bubai honestly thought he would end up against an elite boss that spams healing potions.
But nope.
First, they pyed ninjas from the hidden mist.
Then, after a small game of hide-and-seek at the start, this nutcase literally ripped up the assassin’s handbook and rewrote it in mad crayon.
Screw poison. Screw weapons! Who needs those?! A real man can just py “art is an explosion”!
Explosive tag traps weren’t enough! Booming lightning rods still not enough! Even the water must explode!
Seriously! Crazy! It was like Deidara owed him money!
But it was such a tactic that really rocked his bones hard.
Honest to goodness, Bubai would rather eat poison than get bsted like this over and over again!
Sure, he got his overpowered healy powers, but if his head happened to get blown off, who knows if he can still heal back the same way!
The risk is too great!
Too bad, it seems there was no outswimming this water ghost’s surfing speed.
Even if Bubai wanted to escape up the wall, the roadblock above gave him nada chances!
That’s why he aimed for another objective!
Swish! A needle drilled through the water where his ribs had just been.
Corkscrewing away toward the objective barely in reach, Bubai stole a gnce back at his tail.
And there it was. A giant bubble that almost exceeded the height of the pool and was about to touch rock bottom...
Oh no, when that pops…
Above.
Seeing that he has driven the other against a wall, Wu Dawei snickered.
“Well, well. Dirty rat, I didn’t expect you to make it this far, but this is the end!”
Wu Dawei let go of the bubble and a tap of his toe boosted him up into the air!
Once he soared to the apex, his finger-gun cocked up to the heavens. “KAAAATSU!”
BWOOOOOP—The waterscape below erupted!
Even the airborne caster got swatted away by the force of the exploding water!
After tumbling around like a broken kite in the air, he smashed down into the waves and got swallowed with a spsh.
Large waves rolled outward like a parting sea, licking the arena walls before rolling back towards the heart of the bst...
A breath ter, Wu Dawei rocketed out from the raging tides and retook the center field that was now washed by a chaotic knee-deep tide.
“Gkkk! Gggh!” While choking out some water, he re-stabilized his footing and quickly popped another “holy seed”.
As color returned to his pale cheeks, his venomous eyes quickly searched through the curtain of rain and found the deadman-walking half-buried in the shallow water like driftwood.
“Still alive? Heh. Of course you are.”
A dagger flipped into his hand.
“No matter. You’re half-disabled now. It won’t take much for me to finish you off personally!”
“Cough- Cough! Ugh-” Hacking up a mouthful of bloody water, Bubai shoved aside the stiff corpse he conveniently used as a st-second shield and limply rolled over.
The rain pitter-pattered against his skin like needles and fresh air flowed into his lungs, but that only made them hurt even more.
Truthfully, with heavy injuries like his, a normal person’s mind protection mechanism should’ve already kicked in to shut down mode.
Yet he remained lucid. Clear-minded. This was clearly not normal.
Pnt-like qualities alone can’t expin this.
Perhaps... his body is just a shell and his cheat actually anchored his spirit to this shell?
Maybe if his physical body died, he can still live on in spirit?
Who knows. That’s just a wild theory on his part.
But there’s one thing he was sure of: he had no intentions of falling here!
Teeth clenched, muscles screaming, Bubai shakily pushed himself upright onto one knee to face the killer on the horizon.
The pool was refilling fast, but such natural occurrence can’t even hold a candle to the speed of a Foundation Builder.
So except for the sheets of rain, there was no longer a buffer yer separating them.
Nothing can stop what comes next.
They both knew: the end was nigh!
Bubai tilted his head back and peered up at the golden orb hanging on the washed-out sky.
The sun is his friend. The longer the dey, the more his ruined body stitched itself together.
But even if he wished for time, the other won’t give him a chance to run the clock down.
It seems… if he wanted to survive, he can no longer pull his punches.
Some matters... can no longer be hidden.
His blood-smeared lips curved with a crooked smile.
“Ahh… you had a lot of fun beating me into the mud, didn’t you?”
Wu Dawei frowned. “Whu?”
“Hah… I didn’t want to do this yet, but now… heheh.”
A vibe of darkness took over his face and strands of Qi surged out from his nearly-empty dantian as if it was still full.
“…It’s my turn.”
Crouching low in a sprinting stance, Bubai pnted a fist against the ground and a wicked grin split his lips. Turtle Breath…
“Kai!”
A gust kicked up.
“SECOND—!”
The rain paused. The winds stopped.
“GEARDO!”
