DMS Chapter 19

  DMS Chapter 19

Flinx remembered that after a few hours of arriving on this planet, he had the resolve to power up, but he planned to take his time. Even though he learned that he would be able to return to Earth if he reached the legendary level, he had no one to go back to. But now it's different. He needed to gain power as soon as possible since he truly wanted to save his fellow Earthlings.

After a few hours of nightmare-fueled sleep brought on by anxiety, Flinx went to the Adventurer Guild early. It didn’t take long for him to register as an adventurer, since there were hardly new people that arrived in the town. Most who wanted to adventure in the forest for resources were already registered as adventurers.

To be honest, Flinx didn’t know what the benefit of being a member of the adventurer guild was. He was able to sign up using a couple of mana stones. When he received the copy of the book regarding the parts of the monsters that could be found nearby that were valuable, he realized that being a part of the guild did have some advantages.

He stored the book in his 4th tab space, planning to read it later. He then headed towards the gate that Flinx had entered before, together with one of the town’s patrolmen. He wanted to go to some of the nearby places that didn’t have too many monsters. He wanted to practice his spellcasting so his body would be able to instinctively cast the spells that he had even in the middle of battle.

“Flinx! How are you this morning? Where are you headed?” The guard at the gate asked him.

If he remembered correctly, the guard’s name was Meron, the older brother of one of the children who listened to his storytelling. He was thankful for the internet, the source of his stories, because if Flinx didn’t have the connection, he knew he would run out of stories.

“I’m off to practice my spells. I don’t want to disturb anyone in town,” Flinx replied.

“Take care. I really like your stories, and it would be heartbreaking if we heard that you died out there,” the guard said.

The moment he was within the forest, Flinx reviewed and arranged the spells he wanted to practice, then he cast the Fly spell. He also wanted to practice flying. His owl familiar, who was staying within the trees near the church, followed him and scouted ahead.

After several minutes, his familiar found a large clearing in the forest that was perfect for practicing his spells. The problem was that the clearing was occupied by goblins. The small monsters were camping there, and most of the monsters were busy making small huts.

Flinx knew that it was dangerous for any town or village to allow a tribe of goblins to settle nearby. The fecundity of the goblins was legendary, and after a short time, the population of the monsters would explode, and a tide of goblins would then attack the nearby town or village.

The goblins were weak, but if there were a million of them, even a town would be in danger. Flinx knew that the goblins in the clearing weren’t the only goblins there since a bunch of them were probably in the forest hunting for their food.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

He wasn’t worried about his safety. Flinx could fly, and not only that, he had an overwhelming number of spell slots, which meant spells that he could cast at one time. At first, Flinx thought of what kind of strategy he would use because, based on what his owl familiar had shown him, there were more than a hundred goblins in their small settlement.

At first, Flinx was a little averse to performing some sort of genocide on the monsters, but then again, he had been killing goblins for more than two years. He thought that his aversion was because the dungeon monsters were a construct of the dungeon and were not real beings, but the monsters outside were. It was a dilemma that he had not encountered before, but ultimately, monsters were monsters and would kill and eat any humans that they encountered. More importantly, he wanted to level up his class, and thankfully, he could do so by killing monsters.

Flinx decided to just confront the monsters head-on. He needed to feel his power, and the monsters were just goblins. When he entered the goblins’ tiny village, the little monsters noticed him, and they immediately became red-eyed, looking at Flinx that he were the most delicious food that had stumbled into their area.

Flinx immediately cast the Mage Armor spell to protect himself from any stray ranged attacks, if there were any. A shimmering blue spell particle appeared and surrounded him, and for a second, Flinx paused. The magic was beautiful to behold. Thankfully, the goblins paused as well. Flinx then cast a Fireball towards the goblins. The extremely hot ball of fire appeared on top of his hands. The beauty and savagery of the spell took Flinx’s breath away. The power and beauty of the high-level spells were something that a nerd like him could gaze on for a long time. Hours even.

At first, Anton thought that he had to throw the Fireball, but with only a thought, the Fireball flew from his hands and headed to the group of goblins. The explosion was startlingly loud, and thankfully, the Fireball landed far enough away that Flinx wasn’t affected by the blast.

There was such a large number of goblins that his Fireball probably killed only around 20 of them, so Flinx cast another one. After that, he cast a Chain Lightning spell towards the goblins that were not affected by the Fireball. He didn’t stop his spellcasting. He had 7 Cantrips spell slots, and he put Magic Missile on all of them. Since he was already a level 7 wizard, his Magic Missiles had 5 bolts each. 35 homing glowing bolts flew from his hands and chased the goblins that were still alive.

After all of his spellcasting was done, Flinx knew that he had probably killed 80 percent of the goblins in their settlement. The rest scattered in the forest, and he didn’t want to bother chasing them. Even though he had been a slave for more than two years and thought that the experience had hardened him, he still felt a little guilty for decimating the goblins. Was he such a goody-two-shoes that he felt guilty for killing monsters? Thankfully, there were no little goblin babies. That probably would have wrecked him.

Flinx knew that he should get used to killing monsters, and the best way for him to achieve that was to continue killing. He checked his experience bar to see if he had gained any experience points and was a little disappointed that the monsters didn’t even give him more than 1 percent experience point. He probably would need to kill thousands of goblins to even gain 1 percent. That meant that he would need to target more powerful monsters.

He did earn around 10 small mana stones when he searched the corpses of the goblins. He was so thankful that he had the Telekinesis spell, or else, he would have been puking his guts out. Because of the Prestidigitation spell, the Earthling slaves were clean. There were probably more of the mana stones on the ground, but he didn’t want to spend hours hunting for the stones. He wished the mana stones glowed so he could find them easily.
