DMS Chapter 6
Flinx and James looked grim. It would be very hard for anyone to accept that they were now slaves. That their free will had been taken from them just to make sure that they had the resources that the wizards needed for some reason. He knew that this reality would come crashing down on him sooner or later, and it would be inevitable that the accompanying grief would probably be overwhelming. The only saving grace that they had was their access to Earth’s Internet, which Flinx still couldn’t fathom. How could a system still be connected to another dimension? It defied reality, and since the evidence was there, there’s nothing anyone could do but accept it.
Flinx was reviewing the system and the FAQ page that some of the other slaves created and listed in a forum that Hector gave him and James. Based on what he had learned so far, which was admittedly very little, the wizards were right to be afraid of Earthling’s system.
The fact that it was able to connect to a different dimension already confirmed how powerful their system was. The fact that it also had a shopping page where the system holder could get items from Earth using mana stones meant that the Earthling system could open a portal where items could pass through.
Flinx then wondered why this world’s wizards didn’t use the Earthling’s system to get items from Earth, but he supposed that they were probably more afraid of allowing anyone to have the capability of opening a portal to another world among them.
According to the information that he had read from the forums created by the slaves, the wizards of this world had been doing their system of capturing slaves from another world for just a century, and that meant that it was a new process, and this made the wizards highly afraid of anything that would disrupt their ability to gather the resources they needed to “power up.”
Since he could only purchase three Cantrip spells for now, Flinx decided to use one of the three mana stones that Hector gave him to purchase the Prestidigitation Spell. Based on his situation, he would really need the spell since the toilet that they would be using was just beside the bed that they were going to use to rest, and with the said spell, it would make sure that their toilet was clean. Not only that, the spell would keep his body, clothing, and anything he owned clean. Even his teeth, according to the forums.
Based on the uses of the Prestidigitation spell, he wondered why the site, or the most famous role-playing tabletop game franchise, considered the spell as something novice mages use to practice magic. Flinx thought that the spell was very powerful, but was happy that it was considered a Cantrip Spell. Otherwise, the Earthlings wouldn’t have been able to use it.
The next two spells that he should purchase should be an offensive spell that would kill the monsters from the first level of the dungeon, preferably in one hit, since any one of the Earthlings could only cast three spells per minute.
Flinx was so thankful that the slaves had already created a list of the best spells they could use on the first floor of the dungeon, which were the spells that were available for wizards. They were the Fire Bolt and the Minor Illusion spells. Fire Bolt was one of the best damage dealers, and the Minor Illusion spell, when properly used, would allow to hold off one or more enemies while the caster waited for the cooldown of the spells to finish.

The forums even listed the best illusions that the slaves found that were effective in either holding off some of the monsters or scaring them away, and the illusions were different depending on the monster.
Flinx purchased the cantrip spells Fire Bolt and Minor Illusion and, as per Hector’s advice, began practicing the spells that wouldn’t damage their little cavern room. The first spell that he practiced was the Prestidigitation Spell, which resulted in Flinx having a clean bedroll and clean clothes. He also cleaned his whole body, including his teeth. He also used the tiny toilet that was created in one corner of their cavern room, and Flinx was grateful that the toilet was made in a way that once you entered it, you had to enter an S-shaped entrance, resulting in the toilet user having a modicum of privacy. After doing his business, Flinx immediately cast the Prestidigitation spell that he had slotted in the three cantrip slot, and that resulted in the toilet bowl becoming clean, although it did take three casts of the spell to make sure that the bowl was thoroughly clean. He also made sure that his bum was clean, so he cast the Prestidigitation spell on his body three times as well.
He was incredibly satisfied with what most wizards would consider the best cantrip spell. It made cleaning highly convenient, and that meant that he wouldn’t be bothered by body odor or waste odor.
When Flinx stepped outside the toilet, he saw James looking at the air. He knew that his colleague was looking at the system, but the action made the man look like he had a problem in his head, and that made Flinx a bit self-conscious. Then again, because of their situation, it didn’t matter anymore. All of them had access to the same system, so if anyone looked like they were staring into the air, they would all assume that the person was just looking at the system menu.
During the next hour, Flinx practiced his Minor Illusion spell, trying to produce the illusions that the forums said were the best illusions to hold off the common enemies in the first level of the dungeon. After a while, James called his name to get his attention, and when Flinx saw the man holding his hands behind his back, he asked if there was any problem.
“I used the toilet and then used the fabric in there to wipe, but there’s no water for me to use to wash up,” James said with a straight face.
Flinx knew that if he were the one in that situation, his face would have been incredibly red, and he was thankful that his profession was a wizard and had access to the Prestidigitation spell.
Flinx and James spent several hours practicing the spells that they bought until Hector told them that it was late and that they should sleep since they had work the next day. Flinx thought that he wouldn’t be able to sleep due to their circumstance, but the moment he lay his head on his pillow, he was asleep.
Hector woke him up the next day, and when he checked the time in his system browser, it told him that it was seven in the morning. James was already awake and gnawing on a bread.
Flinx retrieved the bread that Hector had given him the night before and cast the Prestidigitation spell on it, imagining it tasting of Cinnamon French Toast. When he took a bite, he was surprised to taste the most delicious Cinnamon French Toast that had ever graced his mouth.
James must have seen his expression.
“What’s with that exaggerated reaction to that abysmal bread?”
“I tested the Prestidigitation spell on it, and now it tasted as the most delicious Cinnamon French toast I have ever tasted.”
“I should have waited till you’re awake before eating,” James complained.
