Chapter 96: Another one down

The impact twisted Fai's body midair, pain exploding through his entier body as droplets of saliva flew from his mouth. The force sent him crashing into the ground moments later.

  [-5 HP]

  [ HP:33 /40 ]

Even with twenty points invested into endurance, the strike still tore away five HP. That alone was proof of just how strong the hit had been. And unfortunately, it was only the beginning.

  Dian moved.

The girl with green hair and wiggling vine arms was fast. One moment she stood at a distance, and the next she was already close to Fai. As she approached, one of her vine-covered arms spun rapidly above her head. In the blink of an eye, the writhing vines expanded and hardened, forming the shape of a massive hammer.

She brought it down with terrifying force.

"Have a taste of your own medicine!!" she screamed as the attack descended, aimed straight toward Fai's groin.

Seeing her intention clearly, Fai reacted instantly. His body pushed hard against the ground with his feet, launching him just far enough to the side to save his "generations" from what would have been a devastating blow.

The massive vine-hammer slammed into the ground where he had been only a moment earlier, sending vibrations through the earth beneath him.

  But Dian did not stop.

Almost immediately, she followed up with another strike, once again aiming for the same area with frightening precision. It was obvious she had chosen her target deliberately. Seeing this, Fai's body responded with the same reflexive efficiency as before. He moved without hesitation, without needing instruction, shifting just enough to evade the blow.

Unfortunately, she repeated the same motion again.

The hammer-like vine swung down once more, heavy and fast, forcing Fai to keep moving. Each attack came with murderous intent, and each one was narrowly avoided. Dian's frustration grew visibly with every failed attempt, her face twisting with anger as Fai continued slipping through her grasp.

"Can't you stay still?" she screamed, her voice sharp with irritation and rage, as she watched him escape yet another strike.

But even as she shouted, she didn't give up.

Her vine arm rose again, aiming for his groin for the third time in rapid succession. This time, however, Fai didn't simply push himself away along the ground. Instead, his feet slammed hard against the earth, muscles contracting with explosive force. Using the ground as leverage, he lifted his entire body upward in a backward motion, performing a clean back lift.

The hammer-like vine smashed into empty air and soil beneath him.

By the time Dian realized what had happened, Fai was already landing back on his feet, balanced and steady. The movement had been smooth, almost graceful, as though his body had rehearsed it countless times before. In reality, it was the Auto Fairy Defence skill working at its peak, calculating, reacting, and executing without delay.

Seeing Fai standing again, Dian's eyes widened slightly. She didn't hesitate for long. With a sharp motion, she spun the vine above her head once more, building momentum, and sent it flying toward him again.

This time, however, Fai didn't dodge.

  His counter came automatically.

With a swift, precise movement, his hand shot forward and caught the hammer-like end of the vine mid-swing. His fingers locked around it tightly, muscles swelling as he tightened his grip. The force behind his hold was immense, far greater than what Dian had anticipated.

Before she could react, Fai pulled.

The strength behind the pull was overwhelming. It yanked Dian off her feet and dragged her violently toward him. The distance between them vanished in an instant. As soon as she was close enough, Fai raised his fist and drove it forward with crushing force. The punch landed squarely on her face.

The momentum from the pull combined with the raw power behind the strike created a devastating impact. The moment her face collided with Fai's hand, she felt a sharp metallic taste flood her mouth.

  Blood.

"Dian!!!" Arnold screamed from the corner, his voice filled with shock and rage as he saw her body recoil from the blow.

  But Fai wasn't finished.

The instant his fist connected with her face, his body followed up without pause. Another punch drove straight into her stomach, the impact forcing the air from her lungs. Dian's eyes widened as pain exploded through her , her internal organs coiling from the sheer intensity of the strike.

  Her body bent forward involuntarily.

Yet the assault didn't stop there.

Fai's body moved again, unleashing another punch, and then another, and then another. Each strike was fast, precise, and brutal. The blows came in rapid succession, a swift, relentless barrage that gave her no chance to recover or defend herself.

"Let her go, you bastard!" Arnold screamed, his voice breaking with fury as he watched his teammate being overwhelmed.

Anger burned fiercely in his chest as he sprang into action. Wind currents wrapped tightly around his feet, boosting his speed, while swirling streams of compressed air coated his knuckles, sharpening his strikes. In an instant, he leapt forward, crossing the distance between himself and Fai with terrifying speed.

His fist stretched out, aiming for Fai's side ribs.At least, that had been his intention.

The punch landed. It struck human skin.

  But it wasn't Fai's.

The System had already noticed Arnold's change in position. It had predicted the incoming strike and calculated the safest response. Before Arnold's fist could connect with Fai, the System repositioned his body, shifting him just enough so that he stood in the safe zone.

Dian wasn't as lucky.Arnold's punch collided directly with her instead. The impact was catastrophic.

Droplets of saliva and blood burst from Dian's mouth as her body jerked violently from the force. The blow drove deep into her, and it was immediately clear that her insides had suffered fatal injuries.

Even as the notification flashed before Fai eyes, Fai's mind struggled to process what had just happened. Everything was moving too fast. Too many actions were overlapping, too many variables changing at once. His thoughts lagged behind his body, barely able to keep up with the chaos unfolding before him.

Yet beneath the confusion, he felt something else.Clarity.
