It's almost night now.
After releasing all the monsters under the control of Follis Darwin, I’ve been on the run.
Although he's been too busy dealing with his escaped monsters, many of them have spread throughout the labyrinth fast.
I think releasing them probably made this whole test even harder.
But it was kinda my only choice.
Either that or I kill him.
I don’t want to kill anyone, so the answer should be obvious.
My actions, though, could result in the deaths of others.
A bunch of wild beasts with magical powers running rampant through a maze with a hunger for the flesh of the weak.
I'm watching one such case right now.
I see two people fighting what looks like a giant cat with three horns and four eyes.
I would say it looks cute if it weren’t for the fact that it doesn’t.
One of the test takers fighting the cat is swinging his sword at the cat’s legs while the other is firing little balls of fire from her staff.
Their attacks are doing so little that at this rate, they will be unable to defeat it.
They could even die!
Oh, this is so my fault.
If they die its so my fault.
Using
I stretch the water thin and freeze it before discharging it at the cat like a javelin.
The cat dodges and flees around the corner.
After checking that the cat is actually gone, only then do I relax.
If it let these people die, what kind of hero would I be?
“Whoa”
They speak.
“Mr. That was so cool!”
The girl is full of energy.
Shes jumping up and down while mumbling something about magic that I can’t understand.
The guy is standing there with his shoulders slumped and mouth agape in awe.
You don’t have to be impressed.
All I did was shoot some ice at it.
I didn’t even defeat it, stop being impressed.
The javelins were a little bigger than normal, but they weren’t large.
Let me check my stats.
Name: Rentaro Sasajima
Title: Hero
Hp: 500/500
MP: 500/500
SP: 500/500
Skills:
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Holy!
Why are my stats so much higher than before?!
Did they shoot up after that battle against Follis Darwin?
Is it because I'm her hero, or is it one of the tropes?
The main character in isekai slop is suddenly strong for little reason. Could this be that?
What's that supposed to mean?
I got a new skill, but it's a negative level?
How does that even work?
I don’t have time for this.
I’ll look over it once I have some time.
They look like they’ve calmed down a little bit, but they’re still acting quite shocked.
Why yes, my stats are much higher, but I didn’t add any more MP than usual to the spell.
Is this the trope where I do nothing that impressive, but it is actually really impressive?
“Woah mister! How did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You froze the water!”
Yeah. I did.
Because that's how ice works.
Am I missing something here?
Dear traveler, I'm not just stupid, am I?
“How were you able to do that? How can you use more than one magic at once?!”
Wait, can people use only one magic at a time?
Why is that a thing?
That would make combat so slow.
From a game standpoint, though, that would make the game more balanced.
I guess that's one point to the theory that this world is a game.
“Jenn,y stop. This is why you don't have many friends.”
“Well, Jack, at least I don't have a shrimp dick.”
Holy shit!
Shots fired.
Oh, they’re fighting now.
He kicks her in the leg
Shes now hitting him with her staff.
Oh, they’re really fighting now.
She pulled out a knife.
Someone should probably put a stop to this.
Me?
No.
This situation happens in like half of all isekai slop.
Main character meets two random characters, always fight, and mean nothing to the story, but for some reason just never die and survive to the end.
That even in other genres, not just shity isekai.
I'm sure they’ll be fine.
So I turn the other direction.
It's getting pretty dark.
I should probably set up for the night.
Oh.
How am I supposed to go to sleep?
If I stuck with those other two, we could have slept in shifts.
With the teachers around and monsters running about, it would be far too dangerous to just sleep with no one watching.
Half of my issues are just the result of my own actions.
I swear I used to be smarter.
Ok.
I’ll just bend the light around me as I did before facing Follis Darwin!
That way, if I'm seen, I'm not.
It didn’t trick him, so teachers will probably be able to sense me or something.
Others probably won’t, though.
In the morning, I’ll enact my idea.
Goodnight traveler.
Goodmorning traveler.
Im not sure what time it is, but its day time.
Rmm rmmm.
I'm starving.
I haven't eaten anything since arriving.
I’ll probably have to stay hungry though.
I would rather not kill anymore of Follis Darwin’s pet dogs.
Im not really nice, but I am far from cruel.
Ok, I should do my awful idea now.
This great, fantastic, wonderful idea will end the first test in probably an hour at most.
The pros of idea:
The test will end.
I’ll probably pass.
Its a main character thing to do.
The cons of idea:
Most people won’t pass.
Many might die.
All three teachers will try to fight me.
The demon allegations might skyrocket.
There are more cons than pros.
I believe people would then call it a ‘bad idea’.
When using magic, you have two options.
You can use it to manipulate the world around you or create the resource with magic.
Let's say you’re using fire.
You can either control fire that's already around you, or you can create fire with magic.
Its the same with all other magics as well.
If you cancel your magic, if it was an already existing thing you were manipulating, once you cancel it would just fall.
It's like if you're holding something, then suddenly dropping it.
If you created it with magic, it would dissipate, crumble, vanish.
Whatever synonym you want to use in accordance with its properties.
When the fire dragon, Floga, shot the fire laser beam at me, it cut through the stone wall.
It then repaired itself.
A little after we all arrived in the labyrinth, I noticed the wall had traces of MP still in it.
Those two incidents tell me one thing.
This labyrinth is one massive creation of earth!
In my fight with Follis Darwin, I used
If I do a similar thing to the labyrinth, sever the connection between the magic and the magic caster, the entire labyrinth should crumble!
I place my hand firmly against the wall and start looking for the string connecting to the caster.
I see it!
The string is pointing straight into the sky!
The black, illusory string in the sky starts fading away from the point where it was cut.
Once the string is fully gone, the walls start to do the same.
They dissipate, crumble, and vanish slowly before reaching the floor.
Everything is now visible.
I can see hundreds of participants stumble around in confusion.
I can also see Follis Darwin and Lilia Greene in the distance, fighting a horde of monsters that's being followed by the fire dragon, Floga.
I guess those two are out of commission.
That works out great!
Oh, why does it suddenly feel so cold?
What's that in the distance?
I see a late twenties, maybe early thirties woman with white hair and armor running in my direction.
On her face looks to be a blood thirsty expression.
Oh, yeah!
It’s the last teacher Ms. Rei told us about.
What was her name again?
Ria Fall?
No.
Tina Wall?
Not that either.
Before I can even come up with another name, she reaches me, and the sword in her hand swipes at me.
I just barely dodge her attack by leaning so far back I'm practically horizontal.
Suddenly, her name clicks in my head.
“Nia Hall!”
