Chapter 1: Shattered Beginnings 5/9

"Don't scare the boy, just do the test," my dad huffed, showing he didn't wanna be here longer than needed.

"Yeah, yeah, ruining all the fun like usual. Boy, take your shirt off and give me your hand." She held out her hand, and I placed it on hers after taking my shirt off.

“What is that mark on his body?” my father questioned. I looked down to see what he spoke of, and a mark was over my heart.

“It isn't dangerous, just a birthmark that's shaped as a wound and appears on both sides of where the heart is,” she answered, rather bored of all the questions.

"What are you going to do?" I questioned her, wanting to know what my hand was needed for.

"I'll carefully inject some of my mana and inspect your lungs." As she finished her sentence, I hesitated as if she did this, my mana body would be discovered.

"You're gonna leave or what, oh esteemed leader of the hollow family?" She finished her sentence sarcastically, clearly noticing I wanted to hide something from my father. My father left the room, not even wasting his time arguing. She then started to inject her mana through my wrists, slowly climbing her way to my lungs. "So what you got to hide this young?" she spoke casually as if doing something like this was easy.

"I think you'll find out by the end of this." I smile, hoping I can trust her not to tell anyone.

"Like hell,l I'll be sup-" she stopped her sentence as her mana reached my lungs. Not only could she sense the mana in my body, but she also felt the mana from my core. "Holy shit. Looks like the world better get ready for a monster," she retracted her mana, putting her tools away.

"What is the diagnosis?" I got down from the chair, following her to the door my father went through. "And please don't tell anyone about what you found?"

"You're gonna be fully recovered by tomorrow, but expect some coughing. Your secrets are safe with me, not like I have any friends to tell." She showed me a soft smile, opening the door to my father, who was sitting in one of the waiting chairs.

"Is he okay?" My father got up quickly, wishing for the best

"He'll be fine by tomorrow. One copper for the check-up." She pushed me gently to my father's side. He gave her a copper vira as we left the store, and she slowly waved. I returned the gesture to a trustworthy person whom I found.

We moved home quickly as it was slowly getting darker. We arrived, and I forgave Eyra as she kept insisting it was her fault. Simultaneously, I needed to apologise to my mother for worrying her so much. I fell asleep in the dead of night, resting and enjoying the action-packed day.

I woke up to the morning dew greeting my mother, who was packing, as I moved to the front porch to get a view of the mountains, this cavern would be near. The mountain range was called “the mighty ridges”; it is those mountains that border us from “The myst”, a land of legends and myth, where nothing is known or explored.
