Chapter 13: Devour
Perhaps the Golden Lion was born to be a hunter. The old man quickly mastered the use of the slingshot and shot more accurately than Mo Yi'er. After becoming proficient, the old man complained that the slingshot was too small and not powerful enough. He found thicker branches to remake it, with Mo Yi'er's help. The spider silk was woven even thicker, increasing the shooting range but also requiring more strength. After busy work for half a day, they finally made a giant slingshot three times larger than Mo Yi'er's.
"Mo Yu'er, let's go! Grandpa will take you to catch a big bird." The old man said excitedly, he hadn't been this happy in a long time.
"Good." Mo Yier completely agreed. Just now when she brought back the Blood Pigeon, she felt a great sense of accomplishment. If she could hunt down even bigger birds, she would be even happier.
The sky was no longer early, but it didn't dispel the enthusiasm of the old and young. Mo Yi'er rode on Cai Feng'er, flying in the air, following the old man who was galloping wildly in front. Although the old man's hair had almost all fallen out, his running speed was not slow at all. Cai Feng'er had to flap her wings hard just to barely keep up. By the time they arrived at the place where the old man said a large bird would appear, Cai Feng'er was already panting with exhaustion.
Mo Yu'er patted its head and let it rest in place. She then ran to the old man's side. "Grandpa, what bird are we going to catch?"
Several birds have been seen nearby. There are blood pigeons, birds about three times larger than sparrows, and bird species with bright red and green plumage like parrots, but with heads as large as pheasants and short tails, with curved beaks.
"Let's catch it." The old man pointed to the bird that looked like a parrot. Mo Yier temporarily called it Big Parrot Brother. However, the old man seemed to have decided to catch it because its plumage was too beautiful and gorgeous. This is also good. Its size is very suitable for making dinner.
Mo Ye and the old man aimed at a large parrot simultaneously, which was perched on a lotus tree about ten meters away from them. It was not easy to shoot. The leaves of the lotus tree were very big and always blocked their view. Mo Ye pulled the bow tight and thought for a moment before asking: "Grandpa, should we get closer?"
"Don't. This stinky bird is much more alert than the blood bird. If we get any closer, it'll discover us." The old man has been hunting for so many years, he knows a lot more than Mo Yi'er.
"Good, listen to Grandpa." Mo Yi'er responded. This expression of trust and obedience made the old man very pleased. The two people simultaneously pulled open their slingshots. Once again taking aim at the big parrot. After silently counting one, two, three, the two people almost simultaneously fired. But the old man's stone shot out of his sling faster than Mo Yi'er's. And the stones were also bigger.
Mo Yu'er's stone was blocked by the lotus leaf and fell to the ground before hitting Da Yingge. The old man's slingshot shot out a stone that flew rapidly through the obstacles, destroying several leaves and rushing straight at Da Yingge's head. A miserable cry was heard, and Da Yingge fell directly from the tree. The old man, like a cheetah, quickly ran over, picked up the dead Da Yingge, and laughed loudly.
He Mo's memory of the incident is different. Da Ying Ge didn't pass out, but was directly hit on the head and bled. Blood also seeped from his tightly closed eyes.
"Grandpa, you're so amazing."
"Hahaha... thinking back to those days, I was just a small thing. With just a casual wave of my hand, I could catch a whole bunch." The old man wasn't bragging at all. At that time, his "feathers" hadn't fallen out yet. His large wings were very powerful. In the air, he told flying was effortless. It was easy to catch birds.
Mo Yu'er just smiled and didn't say anything. As long as the old man is happy, that's all that matters.
I'm exhausted after a whole day. Mo Yuer has some waist and knee soreness. That's what happens when Aunt Flow comes. Can't be too tired. "Grandpa, let's head back early, I'm tired."
"This kid is really hopeless." The old man strongly despised Mo Yi'er for a moment. He thought that in his younger years, he could run around all day and night without feeling tired.
"Hehe, of course I'm no match for Grandpa." Mo Yuer didn't get angry at the old man's words, but instead agreed with him. Although she was much stronger and more energetic than when she first crossed over, she was still far inferior to the native-born primitives here.
Two people went back on the road. The old man thought about something with a thoughtful expression. Because Mo Yi's body wasn't feeling too well. The "meat" for dinner was roasted by the old man. A blood pigeon and a large parrot were roasted to perfection, crispy outside and tender inside. It was extremely delicious. Mo Yi thought that when Xiao Rong Ball came back, she would definitely ask him to catch two more birds to roast and eat. He would surely be very happy.
Mo Yu slept through the night and didn't wake up until noon the next day. She was covered with a huge piece of animal hide, which appeared to be a black bear skin, but it had been worn out for a long time and was tattered. It must have been put on her by the old man last night. Before that, Xiao Rong would use his wings to shield her from the wind, and she wouldn't feel cold as long as she wore the animal hide clothes.
"Mo Yi'er, you're awake. Come and eat this." The old man walked over from the direction of the lake, his whole body dripping wet. His 'chicken coop' hair was also wet and stuck to his scalp. He held something wrapped in a large lotus leaf in his hand. Mo Yi'er took it and examined it carefully... what a strange thing. It's also a bit disgusting.
"What is this." Mo Yi'er looked at what seemed like a 'hairy' caterpillar, a soft and black thing, and asked the old man.
"Never mind what it is, just eat it quickly. I had a hard time finding it for you, kiddo."
"Eat it? Grandpa, are you sure?" Mo Yier scrunched up her nose in distaste. This thing looks uncomfortable to even look at, let alone eat.
"Of course, we have to eat it. I've been searching for it in the lake since morning. If you don't eat it, I will." The old man sat down beside Mo Yu'er like a lion, vigorously shaking off the water droplets on his body.
"Then just eat it." Mo Yier rolled her eyes. She didn't want to eat at all.
"Ah..." The old man's face turned red with anger. He walked over and took the thing back, seemingly wanting to eat it himself. But after swallowing his saliva, he handed it back to Mo Yi'er. "I specifically caught this for you. You must finish eating it."
"Why... how can something like this be delicious... Ugh..." Mo Yier didn't want to look at it anymore, she really couldn't take it.
"This thing is good. In short, you have to eat it." The old man wanted to say something to explain, but felt that it was too troublesome to start talking. Why bother explaining? As long as Mo Yier ate it, she would understand. So he 'forced' Mo Yier to eat it.
Mo Yu'er really didn't want to. She shook her head and refused to eat, no matter what. Her expression was so resolute that it was unbearable. It made the old man want to strangle her to death. "You little brat, you're too disobedient. Too disobedient."
If it were in the past, the old man would have definitely used force directly. But the 'woman' in front of him is different. She is the woman his grandson has taken a liking to. If he uses force himself, his grandson might fight with him to the death. He's old now and can't beat that young and strong grandson of his.
